It's January 29th, and in Southern California (at my house), it's 87 degrees. :O

We had this year before last on Super Bowl Sunday, too.
I guess it's now the norm: some years, every other week is in the 80s-90s in the winter.

Source: U.S. News

MEXICO CITY (AP) — A 6.3-magnitude earthquake struck offshore in Mexico's Gulf of California on Friday morning, but there were no immediate reports of damage.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake was centered about 48 miles (78 kilometers) north-northeast of Loreto, in the waters between the states of Baja California Sur and Sonora.

The USGS reported that it struck at a depth of 6 miles (10 kilometers).

I can't wait until tomorrow...

when I don't have to see that horrid closeup of Trump on DU.

Trump is a liar.

And every single one of those jackasses who work under him, and who are politically standing behind him, know that.
How the hell do they live with themselves, knowing they are lying to and cheating their own country?—and what the hell were they promised?
It boggles my mind. It's like trying to grasp the size of the universe.

An old article (1983) showing that Ronald Reagan's admin. was NOT too left for today's GOP.

https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/news/how-james-watt-survives-19830609

It disgusts me when people say that Reagan would be considered too left to be accepted by today's GOP.

The Christian Right was blossoming under his reign: they were called the New Right or the Religious Right. Same thing, different decade.
Watt was an asshole who was appointed by Reagan—Watt was an 80's Trump, Sessions, Bannon...

Reagan was NOT an American hero: he was the beginning of what we are currently experiencing with Trump.

Fuck the Reagan years!!!

E. coli outbreak linked to romaine lettuce frustrates produce industry

Source: CNBC

(posted by CNBC 6 hours ago, edited 3 hours ago by CNBC).
Despite more food-safety inspections and other initiatives over the past decade, the fresh produce industry is dealing with what may be its worst E. coli outbreak linked to leafy greens since 2006.

There's also been a sense of frustration for some in the food industry that more information hasn't been provided by the U.S. government.

A deadly strain of the E. coli bacteria possibly linked to romaine lettuce has sickened nearly 60 people and killed at least two in the U.S. and Canada, although U.S. health officials are still trying to nail down the source of the outbreak. Canada's public health agency, though, has said romaine lettuce is the source of its outbreak and advised its population to avoid consuming the leafy vegetable.

Of course, being that we have a GOP idiot sitting in the seat of President, these next 2 paragraphs (at the VERY end of the article) are a reality:

"Even so, the Trump administration has delayed some "key" portions of the food-safety overhaul from going into effect and is creating "a gap" in the farm-to-consumer "safety chain," the Center for Science in the Public Interest charged Thursday.

The center also said the Trump administration is effectively "undoing" rules intended to protect consumers from being exposed to hazards such as E. coli or salmonella."

Bomb cyclone to blast East Coast before polar vortex uncorks tremendous cold late this week

Source: www.washingtonpost.com

Unforgiving cold has punished the eastern third of the United States for the past 10 days. But the most severe winter weather yet will assault the area late this week.

First, a monster storm will hammer coastal locations from Georgia to Maine with ice and snow. By Thursday, the exploding storm will, in many ways, resemble a winter hurricane, battering easternmost New England with potentially damaging winds in addition to blinding snow.

Forecasters are expecting the storm to become a so-called bomb cyclone because its pressure is predicted to fall so fast, an indicator of explosive strengthening. The storm could rank as the most intense over the waters east of New England in decades at this time of year. While blizzard conditions could paste some coastal areas, the most extreme conditions will remain well out over the ocean.

And in Southern California, it's looking like we're entering another drought. (edit) Very, very little snow and rain.
Above average temps all winter. Some record breaking (80-90's).

What is the difference between weather and climate change? (send this to all the RW knuckleheads)
