My Granddaughter posed a question...

She asked, "Should the States that took the pandemic most seriously be the first to give the vaccine to their population?"

...a simple question I had a hard time answering...

...I wanted to say 'yes' and I wanted to 'no'...

...maybe?

Should we pursue Trump...

...after he leaves office for any criminal behavior and acts or should we look the other way and let bygones be bygones?

...I'm no lawyer but it seems to me that Trump has broken laws and has gotten friends and relatives to aid and abet him...

...now that the planned crimes have been committed Trump pardons his gang in a process which looks like some sort of obstruction of justice to me...

...the rule of law won't mean very much if presidents can systematically construct, plan and get away with crimes while in office without any consequence...if Trump has established a new accepted level of presidential criminal conduct then what will the next 'Trump' be like and where will that take us as a country?

...applying justice to this Trump seems like a huge litmus test and responsibility for us and for the new Biden administration...

...what do you think?

Have Republicans wrecked our democracy?

The New York Times, 12-13-2020

" Trump Has Never Believed in Democracy "
.....................

" He keeps lying to his supporters, telling them — partly out of pride, partly out of a craven quest for power — that he was cheated and that he actually won the election. Many of them believe him. Right-wing media have aided him in his deception, as have Republican officials, either through their public pronouncements or through their silence. "
.....................

" That a majority of all Republicans in the House of Representatives expressed support for the frivolous Texas lawsuit signals to me that the difference between liberals and conservatives is no longer about values; it is now about a fundamental belief in democracy. Republicans appear to be saying that not all votes matter or should be counted. This is voter suppression on the grandest of scales, because it is an attempt at voter erasure, at eliminating votes that have already been cast and counted. "

...I think they have and I'm not sure we'll ever be able to fix it...

...sad...
