CA fires take landmark spa.....

http://harbin.org/

Right now there are a number of fires going here in CA and this one is the Lake County fire. I also know a bunch of people in the Calaveras area who are evacuated right now.....

So sad. I've been there many times, but not enough really and love the place. Great energy there. Not a rich guy spa, but a spa for the rest of the world. It will be missed. Hope they can rebuild better than ever.

CA legislature passes medical marijuana regulations

Deal ends nearly two decades of deadlock

Marijuana would be considered an agricultural product

Local and state licenses would be required

By Christopher Cadelago and Jeremy B. White

ccadelago@sacbee.com

After years of false starts and nearly two decades after California legalized cannabis for medical purposes, lawmakers Friday sent Gov. Jerry Brown a legislative package to regulate the billion-dollar industry.

Medical marijuana would be newly defined as an agricultural product with rules for water use, discharge and pesticides, and would be tracked and tested through the process.

The trio of bills would allow for testing and labeling of edible marijuana, overseen by the Department of Public Health, and prevent environmental degradation like water diversion via the Department of Food and Agriculture, which would also manage cultivation.

Overseeing it all and tasked with handling transportation and distribution licenses would be a new Bureau of Medical Marijuana Regulation, housed within the Department of Consumer Affairs and headed by a director who would need to be confirmed by the Senate.

Everyone involved in the cannabis industry, from cultivators to dispensary owners, would need to receive two licenses: one from the state and one from their local city or county. By requiring a local license, the legislation would allow municipalities with bans or restrictions to keep them in place. They also could put before voters taxes on cultivation and retail, in addition to the sales taxes on marijuana, and could designate fees to recoup regulation costs.

Many people with past felony convictions could not get a license unless they have obtained a certificate of rehabilitation, a provision sure to frustrate advocates who argue such a prohibition falls heavily on minority communities.

The deal does not include a excise tax for environmental cleanup and public safety because that would have required a two-thirds vote.

Police Shoot Man For Recording Them With Phone, Claim They Feared

This is close to where I live and deal with Rancho Cordova all the time. it is about 10 miles east of Sacramento along the Highway 50 corridor. Long known as a place with a large minority population.

Sheriff’s deputies in California claimed they feared for their lives after shooting a man who was filming them from his own garage.

The Sacramento sheriff’s deputies shot Danny Sanchez on Friday. Sanchez is currently in the hospital at the UC Davis Medical Center, where he underwent surgery to remove bullet fragments, according to his father, John Sanchez.

The shooting occurred when the Sheriff’s department SWAT team showed up to arrest a neighbor, Ben Ledford, 62, after he fired off an illegal machine gun across the street.

When Sanchez saw the incident, and the SWAT team converge, he began recording from his garage. He assumed there wouldn’t be any problem, since he was so far away from the incident, on his own property and even out on the edge of the garage.

Police say that Sanchez was extending his arm with “an object” in his hand. That “object” was a cellphone, Sanchez’s father John “Sonny” Sanchez said. His son was simply trying to videotape the arrest of Ledford. That’s when police opened fire on him.

“He was yelling, ‘Dad I’m shot, I’m shot,’ so I grabbed him inside and closed the garage door. I put a tourniquet around his leg and a clean towel,” John Sanchez explained.

He pointed out four additional bullet holes in his garage as well as several more in his car.

The same police force killed a guy here too for no reason....(If machetes were illegal then every head shop in the US would be out of business....)

Kansas Mathematician: State’s Voting Machines Are Rigging Elections, Need Audit

A Wichita State University mathematician is calling for the voting machines in Kansas to be audited after noticing odd patterns in electronic returns. This should be an easy request to fulfill for a system that should have nothing to hide, but government officials have been reluctant and elusive in revealing public documents to satisfy this concern.

Beth Clarkson is a certified quality engineer with a doctorate in statistics. She is also the chief statistician for WSU’s National Institute for Aviation Research. While making calculations after the November election, Clarkson revealed that there were enough patterns to raise suspicion that “some voting systems are being sabotaged.” Clarkson said that the patterns indicate “a statistically significant” pattern where the percentage of Republican votes increase according to how large a precinct is – even in areas where other demographics suggest differently. Clarkson said:

“This is not just an anomaly that occurred in one place. It is a pattern that has occurred repeatedly in elections across the United States. I do not know why this trend is there, but I know that the pattern is there and one way to establish that it is or is not election fraud is to go and do a physical audit of paper records of voting machines.”

Clarkson believes that having the paper records will help her check the error rate on the voting machines in Sedgwick County and allow her to establish a statistical model.

The county’s behavior toward Clarkson’s suspicions might indicate that she’s right. So far Clarkson has been put off, with Sedgwick County election officials refusing to allow the computer records to be included in a recount. The officials even told Clarkson that if she wanted to get documentation of the votes, she would have to take them to court – so she did. Clarkson filed a lawsuit against against the Sedgwick County Election Office and Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach in February to get to the bottom of this issue, requesting access to the paper records of the voting machines. On these records, only the votes are counted – the voter is left anonymous.

Report: Trump's Dad Was Arrested In 1927 Ku Klux Klan Brawl With Police

A newly surfaced report from a 1927 edition of the New York Times suggests Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump's late father may have had a connection to the Ku Klux Klan.

A man named Fred Trump was among those arrested in a massive brawl between KKK members and police at a 1927 Memorial Day parade in New York City, according to a contemporaneous Times article surfaced Wednesday by the blog Boing Boing.

The Times article listed the arrestee's address as 175-24 Devonshire Road in Jamaica Estates, Queens. Past local news reports noted that the Republican presidential frontrunner's father (pictured above, third from the left) lived at that address. Donald Trump's German immigrant grandfather, who anglicized his own name to Fred Trump, died nine years before the incident occurred.

While six other men arrested in the brawl faced charges, the Times report noted that Fred Trump was discharged. All seven of the men who were arrested were represented by the same team of two lawyers, according to the Times report.

The Times reported that police said the brawl broke out because the Klan reneged on an agreement not to wear any of their symbols to the parade. The Klan members, for their part, accused the police of exceeding their authority in trying to keep them out of the parade, according to the report.

Hey YOU! You there with the American Flag flying on your car!

I know you think you are being patriotic, but to me, you are really being the exact opposite of that. You are being disrespectful to the flag, and the USA, and you are in reality the symbol of exactly what is wrong with America.

The flag I know, the one that draped the coffin (Died during World War II) of my Mother's brother (And my namesake), was made of cloth. cloth made right here in the USA. it was sewed right here in the USA. My Grandma used to bring it out of the display case on special occasions and let us touch it and feel it, the silk stars and the satiny fabric of the stripes. To this day, I can remember how that flag felt and I and my Brother considered it an honor to fold and place in the case that she proudly displayed on her mantle. Grandma took especial care to see that it was always in perfect condition.

The flag I know, the one that I folded time after time in the Boy Scouts, and as a special student activity in school, was made of cloth. Cloth made right here in the USA. The flag I know was sewed right here in the USA. By people that were employed right here in the USA. By a US company that paid workers well and paid taxes in the USA. I always took special delight in the fact that how you fold the flag is how you also fold a paper football. And I would take extra effort to make them perfect every time too.

The flag I know, the one that I saw draped over my friend's coffins during the Vietnam war, was made of cloth. Cloth made right here in the USA. The flag I know was sewed right here in the USA. By people that were employed right here in the USA. By a US company that paid workers well and paid taxes in the USA. In my middle class neighborhood, seeing these flags was commonplace. The flags that fly over the Vietnam Memorials, in both Washington and Sacramento and containing my friend's names, are made of cloth.

The flag I know, the one that draped my Uncle Gene's coffin, (first man on the beach at Normandy as an unarmed medic who lived until 1999 bust seldom talked about himself and the war) was made of cloth. Cloth made right here in the USA. The flag I know was sewed right here in the USA. By people that were employed right here in the USA. By a US company that paid workers well and paid taxes in the USA. That flag was put on display in the family home, along with my namesake's and both are a cherished keepsake of the family.

The Flag I know was a keepsake something special, something to care for. And we knew the rules. Taken down at sundown and put up at sunrise (many times with Taps playing) and hats off during the anthem. Never to touch the ground. RESPECT THE FLAG.

I may have disagreed with the policies of the country, but when the flag was shown, I gave respect to the symbol of the country. Hats off, Hand over heart, no talking. The flag was special, and still is, no matter the squabble with policy.

The flag you are flying? Well that flag is made of OIL. (nylon you know) OIL that came from another country. It was made by slave labor in a foreign land (China, Bangledesh, or some other third world country) by a company that more likely than not does not contribute in any way towards this county the USA. Not via taxes or anything other than selling cheap ass crap at a stores across the country.

The same stores that do not pay living wages to the people that work there. The same stores that evade taxes by sending billions of dollars overseas in order to avoid taxes.

That, to me is disrespectful, not only of the flag, but the country you profess to love when I see your foreign merchandise flapping in the breeze as you ride around town, at all hours of the day or night. Please stop disrespecting the flag and the country.

My local paper is racist

The Folsom Telegraph has a crime log section. In particular the August 26th edition.... You've seen em, a rundown of the local crime in the area. (Folsom CA). The have a lot of petty theft, auto burglary etc. BUT they only describe miscreants by color ONLY when they are "Black". Twice in this one they do it. They even use "Unknown black suspect" yet use "Unknown suspect" when they are (assuming) not black. No Asian, no Latino (Cringe worthy yes) and certainly no "White" (Just as stupid as "black" IMO)..
this has been going on forever and is the editorial policy of the editors (Who publish many regional papers).

For more examples, but not this weeks go here: http://www.folsomtelegraph.com/search/site/crime%2520log

I am writing this letter and would like some help with it if you would.....

Appalled I am. reading the crime log of August 26th and I noticed one thing. that you described under forgery/fraud, the suspects as black. But you did not describe any of the other people in the log with color (White, black, Latino (Which is horrible anyway) or Indian or Asian. No, only the black people (And is "black" the right term anyway?) were described by their color. Then again, in another enrty titled "Petty theft" you again described the persons as black.

This is shameful and is a good example of institutional racism. PERIOD, there is no excuse for this deplorable reporting, singling out one race over all others. Why aren't the rest of the people described by color or race?
