Senate Republicans get green light for ObamaCare repeal bill

The Senate parliamentarian has ruled that defunding Planned Parenthood can be part of a special Republican package repealing parts of ObamaCare, The Hill has learned.

The parliamentarian on Tuesday gave word that the provision passes muster under the Senate’s Byrd Rule, which means it can be attached to a reconciliation package that cannot be filibustered on the Senate floor.

Reublican presidential candidates are blasting President Obama for rejecting the application to build the Keystone XL Pipeline.

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) vowed to approve the project to transport oil sands in Canada to the Gulf Coast if he is elected president.

“President Obama’s rejection of the Keystone XL Pipeline is a huge mistake, and is the latest reminder that this administration continues to prioritize the demands of radical environmentalists over America’s energy security,” Rubio said in a statement on Friday. “When I’m president, Keystone will be approved, and President Obama’s backward energy policies will come to an end.”

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) said in a tweet he would allow the pipeline to be built if he wins the 2016 race.
Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush called the president’s decision “politically motivated” and said in a tweet on Friday that it will be “a self-inflicted attack on the U.S. economy and jobs.”

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) said the president is “once again stopping progress and blocking job creation” with the decision, adding in a Friday tweet that the pipeline “should be approved.”
