I'm leaving DU, but I'm not ending the fight.

I have voted a straight party slate for the Democrats for more than a decade, but it is clear to me now that the Democratic Party itself is the largest obstacle to reform in the country. Bernie may succeed, God willing, in saving the party from itself, but for me it is too late. I now know that from the top to the bottom, every part of this party is complicit in the corruption that defines it politically. There are few actual good guys; the public personas that our leaders wear are as authentic as the theatrics at a professional wrestling event.

I cannot in good conscience align with this party of race baiters and smear merchants anymore. I will make no future contributions to any Democrat aside from this: I will donate $2000 to the Sanders campaign, the entire allotment of what I had planned to contribute in 2016. I'm not rich but I will spend what I can on a lottery where the only prize is a chance at a future. I may start posting more on Reddit or devote myself to activities with more tangible results, but I won't be posting here. This is a site for Democrats, and I want nothing to do with an unreformed Democratic Party.

I'm going to have to be more careful with my sarcasm in the Primary season.

A post of mine was hidden, and based on the comments some people may have thought that I was being serious:

I just wanted to let any of the jurors know, if they see this post, that I was satirizing the idea that pointing out a civil rights leader is factually incorrect makes someone somehow bigoted. Tongue was firmly in cheek on this post - no slam was intended on Bernie or his supporters.
