Confession: I underestimated the import of Citizens United, never expected a Dem to exploit it.

I'm thinking that all of us are going to remember where we were when Democracy died.

This moment might be the Democratic Convention to some of us, or the night of the General Election to others.

But unless we see our only progressive candidate overcome the odds, the end of Democracy will already have happened.

On January 21, 2010.

Sanders: If Clinton Wins, She'll Have To Win Over My Supporters Herself

Note, the headline is not a direct quote. Read below:

What a perfect and genuine response!

"And if Secretary Clinton wins, it is incumbent upon her to tell millions of people who right now do not believe in establishment politics or establishment economics, who have serious misgivings about a candidate who has received millions of dollars from Wall Street and other special interests," he said. "She has got to go out to you."

Sanders: If Clinton Wins, She'll Have To Win Over My Supporters Herself

During a town hall with MSNBC's Chris Hayes on Monday, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) told a supporter that it's his choice whether to back Hillary Clinton if she becomes the Democratic presidential nominee.

A audience member who said he backs Sanders' candidacy asked the senator whether he will encourage his supporters to back Clinton if she wins the nomination.

"We’re not a movement where I can snap my fingers and say to you or to anybody else what you should do, that you should all listen to me. You shouldn’t. You make these decisions yourself," Sanders replied.

He then said that Clinton will have to court his supporters herself.

"And if Secretary Clinton wins, it is incumbent upon her to tell millions of people who right now do not believe in establishment politics or establishment economics, who have serious misgivings about a candidate who has received millions of dollars from Wall Street and other special interests," he said. "She has got to go out to you."

(Clinton's interview came after she was able to watch Bernie, so she was prepared with her answer)

During a town hall with MSNBC's Rachel Maddow on Monday night, Clinton said that during the 2008 election, she did not set "conditions" for supporting Barack Obama.

Can anyone count the total regular delegates won by Sanders from open primary states?

I'm not able to use Internet right now...

If we look only at delegates, not super-delegates, and for primary states that allow Independents to vote...

...wouldn't we be ahead?

I'm thinking we would, and I'm thinking that these numbers would be far more representative of what happens against the GOP.

What do you all think?

So, what is the "Texas Low-Level Radioactive Waste Disposal Compact Commission", you ask?

There's just a terrific amount of concern in some circles about a $4,900 income item for Jane Sanders, which represents payment for serving as an alternate on the Vermont State "Texas Low-Level Radioactive Waste Disposal Compact Commission".

Jane Sanders' role: I happen to be delighted that we have a champion of the environment and of social justice sitting at this time on the board of this organization.

But but but, RADIOACTIVE WASTE???

Not to worry. The states of Texas and Vermont maintain an agreement (one of many similar interstate accords) by which they cooperatively manage low-level radioactive waste generated within their boundaries, pursuant to the Low-Level Radioactive Waste Policy Act of 1980.

It is the policy of the party states to cooperate in the protection of the health, safety, and welfare of their citizens and the environment and to provide for and encourage the economical management and disposal of low-level radioactive waste.

Some of the materials Low Level Waste consists of are: "gloves and other protective clothing, glass and plastic laboratory supplies, machine parts and tools, and disposable medical items that have come in contact with radioactive materials".

Bernie Sanders, Sheilah Jackson Lee and others cosponsored HR 629, the Texas Low-Level Radioactive Waste Disposal Compact Consent Act, to make such arrangements possible.

Contrary to Right Wing talking points, Sanders did not vote to send these materials to a little town called Sierra Blanca. Sierra Blanca was at one point selected as a possible site for the storage project but it was not written into the legislation and was a matter of selection by the State of Texas.

I'll say it again: I happen to be delighted that we have a champion of the environment and of social justice sitting at this time on the board of this organization.

Now that this is out, we can expect to see some transcripts of speeches, right?

April 15, 2016

Full transcript: CNN Democratic debate

Here you go:

Do what you will with this material!

I was looking at the transcripts/tax returns exchange"

BASH: Senator Sanders, one second, please. Secretary Clinton, the question was about the transcripts of the speeches to Goldman Sachs.
(APPLAUSE)
Why not release them?
CLINTON: I have said, look, there are certain -- there are certain expectations when you run for president. This is a new one. And I've said, if everybody agrees to do it -- because there are speeches for money on the other side. I know that.
But I will tell you this, there is -- there is a long-standing expectation that everybody running release their tax returns, and you can go -- you can go to my website and see eight years of tax returns. And I've released 30 years of tax returns. And I think every candidate, including Senator Sanders and Donald Trump, should do the same.
(APPLAUSE)
BASH: Secretary Clinton, we're going to get to the tax returns later, but just to put a button on this, you're running now for the Democratic nomination.
CLINTON: Right.
BASH: And it is your Democratic opponent and many Democratic voters who want to see those transcripts. It's not about the Republicans...
(CROSSTALK)
(APPLAUSE)
CLINTON: You know, let's set the same standard for everybody. When everybody does it, OK, I will do it, but let's set and expect the same standard on tax returns. Everybody does it, and then we move forward.
BLITZER: Thank you.
SANDERS: Well, let me respond. Secretary Clinton, you just heard her, everybody else does it, she'll do it. I will do it.
(APPLAUSE)
I am going to release all of the transcripts of the speeches that I gave on Wall Street behind closed doors, not for $225,000, not for $2,000, not for two cents. There were no speeches.
(APPLAUSE)
And second of all, of course we will release our taxes. Jane does our taxes. We've been a little bit busy lately. You'll excuse us. But we will...
BLITZER: Senator...
SANDERS: We will get them out.
BLITZER: Senator...
CLINTON: Well, you know, there are a lot of copy machines around.
BLITZER: Senator, when are you -- when are you -- you've been asked for weeks and weeks to release your tax returns.
SANDERS: Well, I think we got one that's coming out tomorrow.
BLITZER: Which one?
SANDERS: Last year's.
BLITZER: 2014?
SANDERS: Yes.
BLITZER: What about 2013, all the other ones?
SANDERS: You'll get them, yes. Yeah, look, I don't want to get anybody very excited. They are very boring tax returns. No big money from speeches, no major investments. Unfortunately -- unfortunately, I remain one of the poorer members of the United States Senate. And that's what that will show.
(APPLAUSE)
BLITZER: So, Senator, just to be clear, tomorrow you will release the 2014 tax returns from you and your family?
SANDERS: Yes.
BLITZER: And what about the earlier ones? What's the problem... SANDERS: Yes.
BLITZER: What's taking so long? Because you just have to go to the filing cabinet, make a copy, and release them.
(APPLAUSE)
SANDERS: Wolf, the answer is, you know, what we have always done in my family is, Jane does them. And she's been out on the campaign trail. We will get them out. We'll get them out very shortly. It's not a big deal.
