Don't Worry About Pence if Trump Resigns

It's possible if things get too hot for Trump, he may look for a deal similar to the one Nixon got (which he shouldn't have received) where Nixon was allowed to step down and resign to avoid criminal charges. I'd hate for Trump to skirt accountability like that, but there is a precedent for it and I'm sure people are working behind the scenes to make that happen. Trump has no shame though, unlike Nixon...so Trump may refuse to step down and he may fight impeachment which is new territory in American history.

If Pence DOES take over the reins of the WH, don't worry about him. He'll only be in office for a year. I HIGHLY doubt he wins an election because he's not the guy the Trump cultists support the most. Pence is more akin to traditional Republicans and isn't an outsider the way Trump was when he came in. This is important context and I don't see the GOP surviving an impeachment resignation.

Has the Democratic Party Accepted Mass Incarceration as a Norm?

This is a topic for grown-ups who can have their beliefs challenged and defend them. Not for people who only want confirmation bias. This is just a reflection of my opinion.

I'm a black voter. Early 30's. I came of age during Black Lives Matter rallies and the realization that America has a prison-complex that is the largest in the world full of disproportionately non-violent POC offenders. Non-violent offenders who are only there because of the disastrous 'tough-on-crime' era that apparently lots of people are still clinging to despite the overwhelming evidence of the millions of lives that era has destroyed and how riddled with racism the rhetoric was back then.

As you can tell from my name, I'm not a Biden supporter...for many reasons really. But his role in the creation of mass incarceration is a MAJOR no deal for me. Hillary Clinton was attacked for echoing tough-on-crime rhetoric during that era, but she doesn't nearly have the blood on her hands that Biden has. For me, I don't care that he was Obama's VP. That doesn't erase the system he helped create and the lives that are STILL being destroyed by it. To make matters worse, Biden is still defending the 94 crime bill in recent years! There's circumstantial evidence to support the idea that he hasn't really learned anything at all since then (or doesn't have the leadership to admit he made terrible decisions backs then).

I'm at a loss then for why Biden has so much support from within the Party? I'd really like to know what is going through voters heads and why so many have decided to give him a pass on this? It's led me to the idea that perhaps many within the Democratic Party have just accepted mass incarceration and their role in it because unfortunately...this isn't something we can just pass off on the GOP. Democrats were knee-deep in the tough-on-crime era.

I hear people saying they think Biden is the only one who can defeat Trump? Based on what? What data is supporting this idea? Are we still in 2019 trying to run elections to win over a demographic that has become increasingly extreme who show no signs of crossing over to vote for Democrats? How is appealing to Trump voters considered the winning strategy instead of expanding the electorate? I guess if you want to believe in the idea that "well they're not all bad"...then that makes some sense.

I'm just trying to have a discussion here about this instead of on Twitter where I already know a lot of anti-Biden voters are. DU seems more in line with where the majority in the party are and I don't see this discussion happening enough.

Too Many Dare Not Call It War - But the GOP Is Waging War on America

The bills in GA and AL are backward and appalling.

The far-right extremists are attacking women.

They're attacking immigrants and Border Patrol is colluding with fascist, non-government militias...then denying it even though they've been caught multiple times feeding extremist militias intelligence.

They're attacking voting rights.

They're inciting violence against two female, immigrant women in Congress.

The police are still attacking Black people like it's a sport.

Too many dare not call it warfare because that's supposed to be a word used only for foreign American empire engagements abroad. But no, the right-wing is DEFINITELY waging war on America right now and everything a liberal democracy is supposed to represent. I personally think many have embraced extremism because they know their ideas are not popular and they can't win in an equal democratic setting. I think there is a large enough group of people in this country who do not believe in democracy that it's now become a problem.

The media knows this, and because they appeal to power and make a lot of money off of the chaos...they're not keeping it real with the state of American politics. Well, I do see some who are, but as a group the media is not doing enough.

Much of the crimes of ICE and simply not being covered.

White supremacist terrorism is at an all-time high.

This country is in terrible shape right now.

It Appears Mueller Has Protected Trump From Impeachment

Let me be clear, I think impeachment should still be on the table because I think Trump is a threat to American democracy. If maintaining democracy is your goal, and you know Trump and his supporters are anti-democratic, then you're now at the point of accepting undemocratic and anti-democratic leadership because removing him would "seem political" and would be "too divisive."

Americans are going to have to wrestle with their decision to keep a dictator-loving, democracy-assaulting President in power and deal with the ramifications this will have on the body politic going forward. We're not in normal times and there is a clear cover-up underway. Trust me...there's a cover-up.

The 2016 Election Was Stolen - It's Time America Stopped Believing in Lies To Feel Good

The 2016 election was stolen. It's now been confirmed that state and local databases were hacked by the Russians. You'd have to be a fool and willfully ignorant to believe this wasn't with the intent of influencing the outcome of the 2016 election.

This doesn't include what we already know about voter suppression and how it may have impacted millions, yes I said MILLIONS, of votes in 2016 across numerous swing states.

Hillary Clinton, who I voted for, should've been elected President of the U.S. I think you have some people on the Left who care more about their hatred of Clinton than they do about telling the truth about what happened. This was about making sure the Democrats didn't put another 1-2 Justices on the Supreme Court, among other things. It was also about systematically rolling back the gains of the last 50+ years. This is an administration waging an alt-right culture war right now in America and that's why Trump continues to get so much support. His cultist followers don't care that they are lied to on a daily basis. They know Trump is an idiot, but they don't care.

I've said it before elsewhere, they ONLY care about attacking the Left, attacking Liberals, Blacks, immigrants, Muslims, women, gays/lesbians...his entire support base is driven by hatred and fear of "the other." The longer his administration goes on, the more obvious that becomes.

The 2016 election was almost certainly stolen.

The slow reporting of Heavy DEM Counties with Large BLACK Populations is NOT AN ACCIDENT

This always happens and it amazes me how no one says anything. All of the Republican votes are being counted so that they know how many of the black votes they don't want to count. All of a sudden we're going to start seeing blue counties come in, then we'll start getting reports about machines going down and all of a sudden the vote counting will stop and Moore will be announced the winner. Days after the election, the truth will start to come out.

Problem is, it's clear there are a lot of Dem votes left to be counted. Most of the votes left to be counted are in DEM HEAVY Counties.

I hope AL proves me wrong.
