Bernie's defense re gun votes.

Something that hasn't been mentioned nearly often enough is that Bernie did not vote against "people suing gun manufacters for a crime committed with a legal gun." Bernie voted against the possibility of bringing lawsuits about an unlimited variety of things (not including defective manufacture). Only when an individual suit is brought do we know whether or not it has merit. For instance, the Sandy Hook suit has to do with marketing practices. If the suit is frivolous, presumably a judge will notice. The link below describes a couple of specific law suits that are relevant.

About those speech transcripts...

I posted this in GDP also - http://www.democraticunderground.com/12511645807 should anyone want to Recommend it.

************
I think Hillary is doing the right thing by refusing to release her Goldman Sachs transcripts. It’s the right thing because she would be the best candidate to be elected president. It’s the right thing because in this extremist hateful atmosphere her comments would be cherry picked to provide more distracting irrelevant fodder for the Hate Hillary campaign. Stuff like “I’m happy to be here tonight.” No! She should want to destroy them completely!

After being secretary of state, she went on a speaking tour as virtually all (all???) modern secretaries of state have done. Given her already healthy million dollar income as a best-selling author*, I doubt if money was the motivator. Certainly not a paltry $250,000. I expect she looked forward to sharing her view of the world, especially with people who operated internationally… a chance to make a case for certain points of view. I don’t know for sure, but that’s OK. I’m one of those who trust her.

Yes, Hillary is a member of the establishment. For me that is not a negative. I think the establishment is a mix of good and bad**, and I want my politicians to be able to find the good in the other side. To find points of compromise so that progress toward a better, fairer, cleaner society can be made without tearing it down first. Anyway, she has experience with people smearing her with innocuous behavior and statements. I’m glad she’s avoiding sharing picking grounds with the Hillary Haters.

And I'm glad she talked to the Goldman Sachs people in the first place. Not too long ago Democrats were lamenting the gridlock in congress. How people no longer talked to each other. Why should we be embarrassed that Hillary will talk to Goldman Sachs people?

*It’s OK for women to make lots of money, right? Or maybe she should have stayed home and baked cookies?

This should be of concern to ALL members of the "democratic" underground.

Sanders supporters, in particular, should be concerned enough to try to change this, as he needs a different congress to implement his ideas.

More questions about Bernie's taxes.

Important caveat. Just because I ask the questions below doesn't mean I don't want to hector Bernie up the wazoo about releasing his returns. He doesn't get to claim "there's nothing wrong," without proof and still give Hillary grief about speeches and donations. He should just have to spend time, money and moral capital defending himself as Hillary has been forced to do.

But I am curious and want to avoid making false assumptions. It just damages our credibility when slamming him.

Here's the link to Bernie's 2014 1040 for reference.

1. I've seen in several places that Jane Sanders made $500,000 as president of a college. Did she quit before December, 2014? Because the combined income on the 2014 1040 is $205,617. This could easily be me not being able to understand taxes. "My husband does our tax returns."

2. Is this 1040 not sufficient to belie the notion that he's a secret millionaire?

Again, I don't CARE if there's nothing wrong with his returns. I just hope he keeps not releasing them so we can keep pounding on him.

Now I'm puzzled about the tax flap.

Has he, or hasn't he released his tax returns? This comes from a GDP post.
And has Hillary released more than 1040's?

What do Sanders and Trump have in common?

Neither will release their tax returns.

April 3, 2016

What's a good one-liner?

I've been trying to think of a comeback, next time Bernie wants to see Hillary's speeches that would bring up his tax returns. I haven't been able to put it together. Ideas?

April 3, 2016

Glad to hear about the tax returns!

Now that we're long past "not waging a personal campaign" it's good to have an issue we can dig into. I'm not necessarily suggesting that the official campaign do it... Although mentioning it a debate might be warranted. But supporters around her may need to give Bernie back that sort of stuff he's been slinging.
