I need some ideas on memorizing a script....
Hello to my fellow DU'ers.
I'm a permanent substitute teacher who has to work this Summer because school's out.
It's been quite a challenge because I thought I had an in-home service provider position but it didn't work out, and I thought there'd be more of a demand than there is.
Anyway, I really want to combine my desire to do something meaningful but I can't be a volunteer because I need a revenue stream.
So.... I have a great opportunity canvassing -(which I've done before and am fine with) for rent control. It's also incorporating the importance of progressive candidates into local politics.
I need help with memorizing! I just listened to a subliminal memory improvement thread while I took a nap. I've had a lot of success with subliminal (s) in the past for a variety of situations.
Can anyone suggest some script memorization tips? Tools? I'm open to anything. This is something I very much want (and need) to do. I'm in Los Angeles, and the man (who's awesome) who's in charge was clear that it's very, very important that the script is almost word - for word. Having actors and actresses in this arena has given him a pretty high bar.
My thanks to anyone who can give me feedback.
(BTW - PLEASE don't give your thoughts or opinions on the ups and downs of canvassing, what you think about subliminals, or anything negative or off topic regarding what my needs are).
Benny Thompson and COVID.....Will he still be able to conduct
the hearing remotely? Will Liz Cheney be the acting leader?
My understanding is that the hearing is still on for Thursday.
If anyone has any info. I'd appreciate hearing about it.
Thanks
Weird question....Does anyone
know how I might go about finding a reputable private detective here in Southern California?
In all seriousness, it's not for me but for a friend of mine who lives in TX and needs some help regarding a family member here in the Los Angeles area.
Thank you
I'm watching a documentary called The Janes about
woman that formed a group (in Illinois) to help other women get abortions pre-Roe V. Wade.
I'm not sure which platform (maybe HBO). It's put together really well.
Documentary (by George Clooney's Production Company) about Ohio State Sex abuse
involving Jim Jordan's involvement in the coverup is coming to HBO.

Please let this take that rat bastard down... I don't hold my breathe anymore but....
I'm watching American Crime: Impeachment...
Re: Clinton and Lewinsky. (On Hulu).
It's sooooo disturbing. I wish I hadn't started it but now I really need to finish.
Misc. notes: IMHO, Edie Falco is miscast as Hillary but Clive Owen is excellent as Clinton. Bernie Feldstein is a great actress and is doing a very impressive job. I don't know enough about Monica Lewinsky to know if she necessarily nails Monica's persona. Sarah Paulson is amazing as Linda Tripp. You don't even know it's her.
This is painful to watch (I understand the response would be, "Then why in the Hell are you watching it?) I'm on the 8th out of 10th episode and I just have to finish. The story is mainly told from the perspective of Lewinsky and Tripp.....
Could Texas go Blue? I'm watching Lawrence O'Donnell's show
from last night.
He had a report about what Abbott is doing with trucks at the border. He then had Beto O'Rourke on as a guest.
As a native Texas (who's lived in California most of my adult life - since 1988), I'm wondering if there's a chance?
What do Du'ers think?
Thanks!
I tested positive for COVID on Sunday (3/20).....
I gave myself a home test on Saturday morning since I'd been teaching (full-time substitute teacher) all week. I tested negative. This was the first week that the L.A. schools lifted their mask mandate and, even though I wore mine most of the time, I was more lax than I've ever been.Late Saturday afternoon, I had a pretty bad headache and a sore throat. On Sunday morning, I and my two roommates all tested positive (home tests). We then went to CVS to test there so they could be sent to a lab. Sure enough, we all found out yesterday that we are positive. One roommate has NO symptoms, the other has congestion and a mild cough, and I've had no symptoms at all since Saturday afternoon.
Most of the teachers and the high school students where I normally teach kept wearing their masks but some didn't. I should have done what I had always done and worn my mask without exception. I wasn't as careful as I normally am. I've been vaccinated and boosted. I've been so careful for two years! I honestly believe the mask mandate has been lifted too soon.
Thank God the agency where I work has allocated 50 hours of pay per substitute teachers for those who've tested positive for COVID. I feel very, very fortunate. I'll be off work all of this week, and I hope very much that I'll be back at school on Monday. BTW, I'm going to wear my masks maybe for the rest of the time I'm subbing! Especially seeing that folks are testing positive more than once...
