About Me

I've been a member of DU since the very beginning....after that horrible fiasco - the sElection of 2000. My first user name was Lindsey, then I changed it to Nirvana555, and now it's Upthevibe. I had devices crash and I ended up having to change my user name. I've never been one to make a whole lot of original posts, but I consider myself a very active member in that I come to DU almost every day and read the wonderfully informative threads. I can't imagine what life would have been like over the past two decades without DU!

Hillary's on Rachel tonight...

I can't find the video. I'm watching it a couple of hours late on my DVR. Man, Hillary is so spot on....

(My apologies if there are already threads about this)...

Has anyone here seen the T.V. series Insecure?

Several folks I know have told me it's great.

I'd love Du'ers feedback.

Thank you!

OMG..... The Righteous Gemstones....

This show is beyond awesome!

I loved the first and (so far) only season and due to COVID there haven't been any new episodes until a couple of weeks ago. Season two is underway.

I DVR'd the first two episodes and just watched them. Danny McBride is a genius!

To anyone who has HBO, I highly recommend this show...

Does someone have a list of Senate Republicans

who are retiring or not running in 2022?

I want to see if there's anyone who may be open to voting with the Dems. on voting rights.

I apologize if this has already been posted and discussed ad nauseam. I've been back at work teaching. During the week it's hard for me to keep up with current events so I normally catch up on the weekends.

Thanks for any feedback (if there's already a lot of discussions I'd be grateful if you post some threads)....

Can someone here on DU please explain the current Filibuster

I know I could google it but I'd value DU'er's posts and insights regarding this incredibly important issue.

I think I heard (but I may have misheard) that there needs to be at least 41 Senators on the floor while it's going on. Also, I think they have to speak for at least a certain amount of time.

If our Senators (with Schumer leading) aren't doing EVERYTHING they can do (including rewriting rules that aren't laws - like what McConnell did) why aren't they?

Thanks for your feedback......

These two are adorable!

Another Michael Nesmith tribute....

This is such a great song that he wrote performed by the great Linda Ronstadt....

Who's seen "The Leftovers"?

I've heard great things but I haven't spoken with anyone who's actually seen it....

Thanks for any feedback....

I'll say it.....Michael Keaton is one of the best actors

I'm watching the mini-series, Dopesick, and he's just sooooooo good in such an understated way.

So far this series is riveting.

California Stimulus Check....

I'm posting here because there's normally more activity than on the specific state sites.

Here's my situation/question:

I received a $600 stimulus check from the State of California earlier in the year. I think it may have been in March but I really don't remember.

Then my understanding was that second checks are (and in some case have come) coming for everyone (including those on social security) if you made less than $75,000 in 2020.

My roommate (who sometimes gets things wrong) is on Social Security, and I told her that she should be eligible (because another friend of mine who's on social security received hers). She just told me that if you received the first one, you won't get a second one.

I've tried googling but I haven't been able to get a clear answer..

Thanks to anyone who can help me!
