corbettkroehler's JournalHelpful Perspective On WFP Switch To Warren Endorsement
Off the top, credit where credit is due. The Warren camp had a strategy to secure the endorsement of the Working Families Party. If the Sanders campaign had a similar strategy, I was unaware. Senator Warren deserves congratulations for this early victory.
As this relates to Sanders, to our team, I say (and explain in a moment), "Buck up!" As it relates to Warren, I am convinced beyond any dissuasion that this will prove a symbolic (but by no means Pyrrhic) victory.
How can I be so steadfast in my convictions? All we need do is examine the impact of the WFP endorsement of Bernie in 2016. It should have moved the needle, especially in New York, but had only a marginal impact.
The WFP is a major player in local, state and congressional elections. The 2018 cycle is proof positive. However, 2016 showed us that the extensive efforts from WFP to gin up support for Bernie mostly flamed out.
Final conclusion: this won't be the watershed moment some may fear. In fact, I already consider it forgotten. Interested in further proof? I was so convinced of its relative inimportance that I refused to renew my WFP dues so that I could vote in the endorsement process.
When it comes to nominating a presidential candidate, the DNC doesn't want to hear what the WFP has to say. After the muted impact of the 2016 WFP endorsement of Bernie, neither do I.
If I worked for the Sanders campaign, my official response would be, "Next".
I will continue to follow and support WFP's efforts in other elections but not the presidential race.
A Hoarse Senator Equals Retail Politicking King
Remember that official campaign tweet about 3 months ago that Sanders 2020 won't be out-organized? Bernie's tireless efforts to reach as many voters and prospective voters as possible cost him his voice.
The heartbreaking and noteworthy Nevada event, in which a Navy veteran with Stage 4 Huntington's spoke of suicide due to $139,000 in unjust medical bills, also featured a DUer, FirstLight, who was courageous enough to share her healthcare disasters. She was so moved by Bernie's campaign event that she switched her preference from Harris to Sanders.
Not out-organized, indeed!

Arizona On Track To $12/Hour While Maintaining A Healthy Economy
Cynics decry raising the minimum wage to a living wage as a guarantee of job losses. Arizona is on track for $12/hour and has found its economy, including employment levels, holding steady.

LYON, France -- Its easy to hang a flag outside your house, stand for the national anthem, don the red, white and blue and tell everyone who will listen how much you love your country.
Actual patriotism, active patriotism, is much harder. It requires acknowledging this countrys flaws and holding it accountable until theyre addressed. It means working to achieve that more perfect union our countrys founders envisioned rather than simply paying lip service to the ideals we supposedly cherish.
America is not easy. At least, its not supposed to be. Megan Rapinoe gets that.
Racism Meets A Rigged Economy - Proof Positive Of The Primary's Top Issues
When our candidates campaign on the profound disadvantages faced by Americans of color, such as red-lining, infant mortality, obstetric mortality, for-profit incarceration, pay inequity, etc., the specifics can feel a bit abstract. This article from the financial press lays it out for us with cold, hard facts and figures.
In short, reality bites!

The experience of repaying student loans is unpleasant for millions of graduates, but for some borrowers, paying off student debt is an almost insurmountable challenge.
Twelve years after entering college, white men have paid off 44% of their student-loan balance on average, according to an analysis released this month by Demos, a left-leaning think tank. For white women, that share drops to 28%. For black borrowers, the picture is even bleaker. Black women see their loan balances actually grow 13% on average, 12 years after leaving school, while black men see their balances grow 11%.

The ability to pay off your loans has everything to do with wages and the ability to gain secure employment; it has everything to do with housing affordability; it has everything to do with child-care costs.

The age at which students enter college also plays a role in their ability to pay off debt. Students who start college at age 20 or older have paid off just 5% of their debt on average, at minimum, 12 years after leaving school. Students who enter school at age 18 or 19 have typically paid off more than one-quarter of their debt 12 years after leaving college, the report found.
4 Polls Just This Month Show #BernieBeatsTrump
I realize that skeptics will dismiss these numbers as meaningless but I smell a trend. Just consider the breadth of the poll disciplines.
