It's me.

Tonight my 89-year-old stepdad called me with his cellphone. I kept yelling hello and he couldn't hear me. I called him back on his landline. He couldn't hear me. He has a second smartphone so I called it. He couldn't hear me. OH NO HE'S GONE DEAF!

Then somebody else called me and they couldn't hear me. The microphone on my cellphone is broken. Oops.

How many times in life have I blamed somebody else, when the one at fault is in the mirror?

When someone you don't like dies...

Never send to know for whom the bell tolls, it tolls for thee, I tell myself.

A high school classmate who never gave me the time of day, either back then or at reunions, has died. At the 55th reunion, my husband and I sat at his table, and I tried to make conversation. Might as well have talked to the centerpiece. I noticed he wasn't at the 60th this July. I was a little disappointed, because I wanted to try again to talk to him.

I think what bothered me was that he didn't like me, not that I didn't like him. Now he's gone. That bell is practicing for me, and all of us, but we're still here today.

Enjoy every moment you can.

On my birthday today, I danced in a conga line,

at Zumba, and my youngest child's gift was to go to Zumba class with me. I'm now 78 and she's 44. It made me happy to show her that an hour of dancing and aerobics is not yet beyond my capabilities. Happy Veterans Day!

I wanted to get through a person's "likes" to make sure they didn't have DToad in there somewhere, and got this notice. 🤣

A melancholy Boys of Summer on this November day.

For the first time in over 70 years, I have eaten zero Halloween candy.

We've had 64 trick-or-treaters so far tonight and I handed out full-size bars until they ran out and I started on the mini-sized, giving two or three to each kid.

Now that we are down to the Butterfingers I'd hoarded out, I let my husband take over as I mourn their disappearance.

I am determined not to fall prey to my usual Halloween-to-Easter weight gain due to candy. I can't believe I'm able to resist a bowl of Butterfingers. Chewing gum is helping.

Just have one? No, it's like alcohol, I don't have an off-switch. Haven't drank in 15 years.

My Apple Watch sure looks out for me.

I knocked a pot lid on the counter to dislodge something, and my watch said it looks like you've taken a hard fall. Are you OK? Call 911? Need ambulance? Can I get you a beer? Can I finish making that salsa? Can I get Keith Urban over to rub your shoulders? Can I transfer the fall to a Republican of your choice?

I think I daydreamed a few of those.

Even on the eve of frost, the pepper plant flowers. Such is life.

Fenway Park has a huge working farm on the roof.

I didn't know this until we took out-of-town visitors on a tour yesterday. I'll post my picture and then an article about it. It's beautiful!
