Are you a mouse or touchpad user? (Also, desktop, laptop or phone?)

My sister surfs the web via her phone all the time. I can't do that. I'm a laptop user, no mouse, so I use the touchpad. Now on the topic of that darn touchpad, it's my friend and my enemy. On my existing laptop and on my previous one, I have disabled the single-finger "tap to click" feature because it led to far too many unwanted surfing locations as the darn thing would activate almost any hyperlink it came across (and that was with the sensitivity setting reduced to low).

So I continue to use the touchpad to glide the cursor around the screen but I must deliberately push down at the bottom of the touchpad to move from one destination to the next. That means I actually hear a physical "click" each time, which is a little annoying but less annoying than unintentionally activating an advertisement that I wanted no part of.

Reclusive Deity Hasn't Written A New Book In 2,000 Years

NEW YORK—Leading writers, scholars, and publishers gathered this week at Fordham University for a literary conference and panel discussion on God, the widely praised but reclusive deity who has not published a book since His landmark debut 2,000 years ago.

Hailed by critics as one of the most important authors in recent millennia, the eccentric divinity is said to have long ago retreated from the public eye, eschewing a life of celebrity for one of solitude and quiet. To this day, experts confirmed, His artistic reputation rests exclusively upon His bestselling and highly acclaimed first work, the Bible.

“God has granted no interviews, made no public appearances, and kept entirely to Himself for what seems like ages, and yet it’s fair to say that no other author has been quite so influential,” said noted critic and conference attendee James Wood, observing that while the fiercely private immortal being has only one book to His credit, He remains among the world’s most respected and quoted writers. “For many readers, God’s writing had a transformative impact on their lives, and countless people list His book among their favorite titles. But for reasons that we can only speculate about, God has chosen to stay out of the limelight and let His words speak for themselves. Perhaps it is God’s retreat into His own world that allowed Him to render His vision so vividly on the page.”

“It’s also possible that, with the first book, He simply said everything He had to say,” Wood continued. “Though one would think a writer of such impressive knowledge and power would never lack for inspiration.”

Does the brand of flour make a difference?

I just came back from the grocery store with a bag of "No Name" flour that was $5 cheaper than the major brand name that my wife always purchases. I could see her wince when I came through the door (I sort of anticipated it). I'm not convinced brand name makes a big difference. They are, after all, the same types of flour, just a different packaging.

Am I wrong, DU?

A lounge "intimacy" joke for the aged

Not exactly safe for work, but only "mental pictures"!

A couple, both age 78, went to a sex therapist's office. The doctor asked, "What can I do for you?"

The man said, "Will you watch us have sex?"

The doctor looked puzzled, but agreed.

When the couple finished, the doctor said, "There's nothing wrong with the way you have sex," and charged them $50.

This happened several weeks in a row. The couple would make an appointment, have sex with no problems, pay the doctor, then leave.

Finally, the doctor asked, "Just exactly what are you trying to find out?"

"We're not trying to find out anything," the husband replied.
"She's married and we can't go to her house. I'm married and we can't go to my house. The Holiday Inn charges $90. The Hilton charges $108. We do it here for $50...and I get $43 back from Medicare.

How many more seasons will the Patriots be a contender?

I realize I'm inviting bluedigger to chime in with "forever," but seriously?

I commend the organization for so many years of success. But Gronk seriously pondered retirement last season. He struggled with injuries this year. He's got a lot of miles on him.

Brady has now committed to play until he's Methuselah's equivalent in age. His stats were very good this season, but sub-par by Brady standards. I'll be damned if he and the Pats didn't find another gear in the playoffs today, as they usually seem to do, but Brady be 42 next season, which is ANCIENT in the NFL.

Edelman isn't who he used to be. The Josh Gordon experiment failed. Sony Michel has emerged as a capable running back, if his knee holds up. The defense was better than average for most of the season, but there are quite a few aging veterans there as well.

Belichick knows football, there's no denying it. But without his core, he can't work miracles.

So when do we see New England as a .500 team or worse? Next year? The season after that?

"Second Coming" Jesus comic book offends some Christians

You would think that Christians would jump at the chance to see their Savior represented in popular media, but some believers are upset about the portrayal of Jesus in a new series from DC Comics.

The premise is actually pretty great: The superhero is Jesus, but He comes back to Earth only to “set the record straight” after seeing how people have twisted His words.

The series, called “Second Coming” and written by Mark Russell (with art by Richard Pace), comes out in March. Just in time for Easter.According to Comic Book Resources, Russell mixed in his own idea of Christianity in the animated work by claiming that Jesus needed to return to earth to learn how to become the “true messiah” from a Superman-like character called Sun-man.

“Witness the return of Jesus Christ, as He is sent on a most holy mission by God to learn what it takes to be the true messiah of mankind by becoming roommates with the world’s favorite savior: the all-powerful superhero Sun-Man, the Last Son of Krispex! But when Christ returns to earth, he’s shocked to discover what has become of his gospel — and now, he aims to set the record straight,” the comic description reads.
