Greg Abbott Orders Texas National Guard to Block Federal Border Patrol Operations

Abbott is spending billions of taxpayer dollars to weaken border security and cause chaos.

https://www.lonestarleft.com/p/greg-abbott-orders-texas-national

In a move causing widespread alarm and outrage, Governor Greg Abbott’s directive led the Texas National Guard to seize Shelby Park in Eagle Pass, igniting a fiery conflict with the federal government. This aggressive action, which Abbott claims is to manage border crossings and immigration, represents a sharp escalation in the state’s already contentious relationship with the US Border Patrol and the federal administration.

Shelby Park was used in recent months by the Border Patrol as a staging area to process the overflow of migrants. Under federal law, Border Patrol has a legal responsibility to process migrants on US soil and determine whether to detain them, transfer them to another agency, deport them, or release them into the country, pending a court hearing.

The Texas National Guard has barricaded a crucial 2.5-mile stretch along the Rio Grande, including Shelby Park. Abbott has ordered the armed National Guard to deny Border Patrol entry. This brazen action is not just a mere interference in federal operations; it’s a blatant disregard for the rule of law and established federal jurisdiction.

Governor Greg Abbott Muses Over Murdering Refugees At The Border

Greg Abbott's rhetoric turned radical extremists recently on the Dana Loesch show.

There is no bottom.

In his recent appearance on the Dana Loesch Show, Governor Greg Abbott discussed what Texas has done for so-called border security.

Governor Abbott made it clear that there are limits to these measures. He asserted that the state would shoot and kill those crossing the border if it wasn’t for the threat of criminal murder charges from the federal government.

Blue Horizons: The Democrat's Roadmap To Conquering Texas

Unpacking the trends driving Texas toward a Democratic future.

https://www.lonestarleft.com/p/blue-horizons-the-democrats-roadmap

Where is Texas going politically?
Texas is the second largest state in the country, and it also awards the second largest electoral votes for president and has the second largest number of seats in the house. This means that Texas is a lucrative prize politically. For the last two decades, Texas has been safely Republican, so politically, it has been somewhat on the back burner compared to highly competitive states such as Wisconsin, North Carolina, Nevada…etc. However, this may be starting to change.

In this article, I will be taking a deep dive into the trends powering Texas’ leftward trend in recent years, making the state go from Romney+15 to Trump+9 to Trump+5, along with Ted Cruz’s narrow 2.6-point win in 2018. Texas has been rapidly changing, giving Democrats real hope that they can flip the state.

Tarrant County's White Supremacy Problem

How extremist ideologies in Tarrant County threaten democracy and diversity.

https://www.lonestarleft.com/p/tarrant-countys-white-supremacy-problem

When legislators consistently vote against measures designed to support and protect minority communities, such as the sickle cell disease awareness bill and the Crown Act, and instead actively support the ban on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) offices, they are not only ignoring the needs and rights of their increasingly diverse constituency but also perpetuating the very ideologies these extremist groups advocate for.

The direct correlation between the presence of these groups in Tarrant County and the legislative actions taken by these officials suggests a disturbing influence of white supremacist-aligned organizations on the legislative process. This influence has tangible, detrimental impacts on the lives of minority communities, shaping policies that further marginalize already vulnerable populations and entrench inequality.

This pattern of voting sends a clear message that these legislators are more interested in serving a narrow, extremist agenda than in meeting the needs of all their constituents, thereby undermining the principles of representation and equality that are supposed to underpin our democracy.

From Simmering To Boil, Mayra Flores' GrubGate Scandal Deepens

Dishing Out Deceit: The spicy saga continues...

https://www.lonestarleft.com/p/from-simmering-to-boil-mayra-flores

If you missed yesterday’s main course of controversy, I served up “Can Mayra Flores’ Political Career Survive GrubGate?” Former Congressional Rep and current Congressional candidate was caught in the kitchen of deceit, seasoning an authentic Guyanese recipe with a tall tale, claiming it as a homegrown delicacy simmered over her family ranch’s open flames.

We all had a good laugh.

Then, this morning, the alt-right publication Current Revolt put Mayra Flores’ social media history on the chopping block with “Mayra Flores in GRUBGATE Scandal.” They meticulously filleted her online presence, reverse-image searching every dish she claimed to have masterfully prepared.

They were all stolen! Every single one. It appears she’s been garnishing her profile with other creators’ culinary creations, attempting to pass off these borrowed banquets as her own handcrafted feasts for years.

Can Mayra Flores' Political Career Survive GrubGate?

The Great Guyanese Grub Grab: A tale of culinary misappropriation.

https://www.lonestarleft.com/p/can-mayra-flores-political-career

Congressional Candidate Mayra Flores and her kin gathered around a warm fire on New Year’s Eve in South Texas. They used a cast-iron skillet to cook their food on an open flame. Flores exclaimed, “La vida Ranchero en familia es lo mejor.” Life on the Ranch with family is the best. Then she posted this picture to social media:

What are they eating, you ask? Are those street tacos? No. Actually, you’re looking at a popular Guyanese dish, Mutton (sheep) Stew and Flatbread.

In fact, this yummy meal wasn’t from Flores’s family ranch; it wasn’t even from America. As Twitter user Ben Anderson discovered, the picture Mayra Flores used on New Year’s Eve, claiming it was a family meal on her family ranch, was a STOLEN picture from the Guyanese Facebook Page, Visit Guyana.

The Democratic Primary Elections In Texas - Part One

2024 is shaping up to be an exciting year in Texas, as Democrats have primary races up and down the ballot.

https://www.lonestarleft.com/p/the-democratic-primary-elections

This article covers the U. S. Senate, Railroad Commissioner, and Congressional Democratic primary races. Later this week, I’ll publish a breakdown of the State Legislature, SBOE, and SCOTX races. There were just too many races to put in one article.

All week long, I’ve been hovering on the Secretary of State’s (SoS) website, refreshing and updating my list of candidates. I’m not sure if all of the candidates have been published on the SoS website yet, but I’ll keep watching it for any more updates over the next week. Not only do we have Democratic candidates in every State Senate seat that’s up for election, but we also have candidates in every SCOTX and SBOE race. And we have candidates in 85% of the House races.

I’ve said it, you’ve said it, everyone has said it, “If Democrats want to increase turnout, they need candidates in every race.” Well, we didn’t get to every race, but we got pretty damn close. Of course, there is still much work to do next year to ensure a record turnout year, but we completed step one, and the Texas Democratic Party got a huge gold star.

Texas GOP's March Madness: Ballot Initiatives Bound to Backfire

The Republican's proposals are a blueprint for backlash and could help mobilize a Texas blue wave.

https://www.lonestarleft.com/p/texas-gops-march-madness-ballot-initiatives

Today, the Texas GOP published their ballot initiatives, which will be on the March 2024 Republican primary ballot. The ballot initiatives are racist, unhinged, and based on conspiracy theories. At this point, we shouldn’t expect anything less from the Republican Party of Texas.

Proposition One - Texas should eliminate all property taxes without increasing Texans’ overall tax burden.
As a homeowner in Texas, I can assure you that property taxes here are ridiculously high. Property taxes in Texas are the sixth highest in the nation.

Property taxes are a vital source of revenue for local government. The burden falls squarely on property taxes to compensate for the lack of other income. This money (property tax revenue) funds essential resources and public services for Texas citizens, including public schools, libraries, emergency services, road maintenance, and community safety measures.
