Florida provided voter-roll data to President Donald Trump's election fraud commission Friday despite a lawsuit by the ACLU of Florida attempting to prevent the state from providing the information.
Florida Secretary of State Ken Detzner complied with the request by the commission after a federal judge in Washington, D.C., cleared the way Monday for the Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity to resume its effort to collect voter data from all states. U.S. District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly rejected a request by the Electronic Privacy Information Center to block the data collection.
"Today the Department of State pursuant to Florida law fulfilled the public records request that we received from the Presidential Advisory Commission," said Sarah Revell, Detzner's spokeswoman. "As we have said all along, we will follow Florida law and will only submit information that is already available and regularly provided to anyone who requests it."
On June 28, the commission asked states to send publicly available voter data by July 14. Detzner agreed to provide public data, but not private data such as Social Security numbers or driver's license information.

78% of Utahns want Sen. Orrin Hatch to retire
Washington • Utahns are split over whether they approve of Sen. Orrin Hatch's performance in office, but a large majority are sure they don't want him to run for office again, according to a new poll by The Salt Lake Tribune and the University of Utah's Hinckley Institute of Politics.
Nearly 8-in-10 registered voters polled said Hatch shouldn't seek re-election, with 57 percent saying he should "definitely not" run. Those numbers mirror results from a January poll that found 78 percent of Utahns think the senator should retire at end of his seventh term.
"Even though he's in a powerful position — chairman of the [Senate] Finance Committee, [former] longtime chairman of the Judiciary Committee, Senate president pro tem — the voters are indicating they're ready for a change," said Tim Chambless, associated professor of political science at the U. "If I were the campaign manager for Senator Hatch, I'd be very concerned."

BP in talks with electric carmakers on service station chargers
LONDON (Reuters) - BP is in talks with electric vehicle makers on partnering to offer battery re-charging docks at its global network of fuel service stations as it seeks to benefit from the move away from diesel and petrol cars, Chief Executive Bob Dudley told Reuters on Tuesday.
The expected rapid growth in the use of electric vehicles in the coming decades is threatening oil companies' business model as demand for some road fuels could plateau as early as the late 2020s, according to some oil company estimates.
Looking to take a slice of the growing market, London-based BP is however examining different ways to get involved in the sector.
"We have discussions going on with a lot of the EV manufacturers to have a tie-up with our retail network for charging," Dudley said in an interview.

Lawsuit filed!
The Fox News Channel and a wealthy supporter of President Trump worked in concert under the watchful eye of the White House to concoct a story about the murder of a young Democratic National Committee aide, according to a lawsuit filed Tuesday.
The explosive claim is part of the lawsuit filed against Fox News by Rod Wheeler, a longtime paid commentator for the news network. The suit was obtained exclusively by NPR.
Wheeler alleges Fox News and the Trump supporter intended to deflect public attention from growing concern about the administration's ties to the Russian government. His suit charges that a Fox News reporter created quotations out of thin air and attributed them to him to propel her story.
Fox's president of news, Jay Wallace, told NPR Monday there was no "concrete evidence" that Wheeler was misquoted by the reporter, Malia Zimmerman. The news executive did not address a question about the story's allegedly partisan origins. Fox News declined to allow Zimmerman to comment for this story.
