MontanaMama's JournalInjury update on Maybee....she's so much better this morning!
My girl is much improved this morning. We thought we were headed in for X-rays first thing this am
the emergency vet was so busy last night that we opted for an exam and a carprofen rx to get us through the night. She wants to play and we cant because last night she could barely walk, sit or anything else. She wouldnt even eat last night. Ill keep her busy today with puzzles and we will reevaluate frisbee fun in a couple days.
Im grateful for the well wishes of DUers last night. I was really scared. I think shes going to be okay.
Maybee at the door asking for a play:
Healing vibes for my sweet Maybee, please.
My husband was bringing her home from work tonight
Maybee ran out of our shop and sped around the truck
she turned quickly and hit her shoulder on the hitch
she piled right up in pain. When he got her home, she couldnt walk straight or put any weight on her front right shoulder. We rushed her to the emergency vet. Dr. Briggs felt she had good range of motion but definite gait deficit. Not sure if we have a deep tissue injury or something more serious. We got a carprofen rx to get us through the night and brought her home. The per ER was very busy tonight and Mabes was really stressed out. We will go back tomorrow for films and whatever else she might need. Shes resting on my bed for the moment. Keeping a border collie pup quiet is a challenge but as of right now shes complying.
My personal favorite Biden SOTU phrase tonight was...
Look it up! Knowing those tools dont even know what it means or how to do it. Suck on it Kevin.
On a side note, Moscow Mitch looked ill tonight. Discuss.
Maybee relaxing on the hooman bed
after getting me up four times last night so she could run around the back yard like a crazy person. Didnt have to potty
just needed to run around. She is truly bonkers.
Maybee! North American Slush Puppy...
In her natural habitat. All weather is frisbee weather. I love this dog.
My kiddo had his wisdom teeth extracted today. Healthcare in America.
I took my 17 year old son into an oral surgeon today to have 3 third molars extracted. I'd been preparing for this...meaning saving money for the procedure for months...we don't have dental insurance. The bill was $1700 with no discount for cash. I had the money set aside and we got it done.
While I was in the waiting room, an older man was waiting go back to have all of his remaining teeth extracted. I know this because the front desk person spoke to the man loud enough for me to hear even with my ear buds in my ears. She told the man he owed $7000 today and it must be paid prior to the procedure. He asked about his insurance and she told him it would pay $1500 (typical dental annual maximum benefit...actually better than typical)of the $8500 bill. He said he didn't have the money. I mean, who has seven grand lying around?
I was embarrassed for the man and angry that this conversation took place at the front desk for all to hear. It is NOT how to treat people...and this man was clearly upset and told the front desk person he had infection and pain. He also said he did not have a ride home as was required by the office for any surgical procedure. It was a mess.
A second person came to the front desk and told the man the procedure would have to be postponed and could he come back next week (another week with dental infection and pain) and meet with her to discuss something she called "compassionate care financing". He agreed to do this.
Then the surgeon emerged from the OR area and called the second woman back to talk with her privately. She came back up front and told the man they would do his surgery today if he could arrange a ride home which he did after making a couple of phone calls.
The whole thing made me sick and sad. I'm just glad the man got care today. How he will pay back $7000 I have no idea.
I met the wonderful former MT Governor, Steve Bullock
today at the airport in Missoula! I was dropping off some friends and there he was loading his bags into the back of a vehicle. Im usually pretty darned shy
but I walked right over to him and introduced myself and told him how much we missed him. He shook my hand and said Thank you. My husband walked over and shook his hand and said the same
Governor Bullock looked at us both and said what a time were in, huh? We agreed
Montana is in a scary place.
I didnt bother him any longer
I wished him well and thanked him for his time. It was a cool Montana moment.
Hey MSM. STOP calling the pro-insurrectionists "Rebels".
They aren't rebels. They are agents of chaos who have no interest in government running as it was intended. In fact, many of those 20 never kevins are traitors. They're attention whores among other things. Calling them rebels will only give them a thrill.
ETA: Nicolle just said she refused to call these anarchists "rebels"
Border collie patience.
When you just want your mom to put the kitchen to bed so we can go outside to play frisbee in the dark and the snow. Please.
Maybee held still for one second
so I could take this pic. Its rare that she holds still
life with a border collie. They are busy.
Hope everyone is having a day of peace and tranquility. 🎄
