While I was in the attic, I’d noticed a stack of old records that had been taken up there to die, local R&B and gospel stuff mostly. I grabbed the one off the top (a gospel record entitled The Joy of Knowing Jesus by the Revelaires) and as I passed Michael on the way to the Control Room, I tossed it down to him. I thought he might be amused.
When I fired up the tape a few seconds later, Michael was singing, but not the lyrics to “7 Chinese Brothers.” He was singing the liner notes to the LP I’d tossed him. When Michael began to sing these liner notes, he was much louder than he’d been earlier and it took a few seconds for me to realize what was going on and adjust the levels.
He made it all the way through the song, working in every word on the back of that album! I rewound the tape, we had a chuckle and proceeded to sing the beautiful one-take vocal of the real words that you hear on Reckoning. He seemed more confident after that day.

Edit: Damn, actually feels like only about 72 or so. GLORIOUS!

Had a nice encounter with a young transgender worker at the local make-your-own pizza place ...
It was really busy and there was only 3 people working apparently ... and this young lady was flustered and apologizing to me about the wait and just being generally sheepish. She was taking my money, cutting my pizza and putting the final after-cooking toppings on my pie.
Since we're all in masks, it took me a second to ascertain a preferred pronoun ... they're all just in jeans and a loose t-shirt ... but hers looked like women's cut jeans, she had earrings in both ears, and a wristband in rainbow colors ... so I was pretty sure I had right.
After one of the last apologies I was like 'You're all good girl!' ... hoping I wasn't mistaken.
She said "Thank you!" in a normal way, and then stopped and like looked straight at me, and quietly added "and thank you so much". I knew what that 2nd one was for.
This is a VERY red area, I can only imagine what it's like for her on a daily basis.
I walked out happy, hoping I'd made her day a little better

because this tune is really like a ... let's say ... 'faithful tribute' to an Elton John tune?
Fortunately it's one of my all-time favorites ... Specifically Curtains, from Capt Fantastic & TBDC.
