Why doesn't CNN show regular news and shows "special series"

instead of news around the country and the world when it doesn't involve US politics or a mass shooting or natural disasters in the US? Is it ALL about ratings and $$$ instead of current events? I have seen reruns of "The 80s", "The 90s", etc for years yet have to turn on PBS to watch current, real news and it isn't on 24/7 when I can watch.

If Putin was no longer alive does he have a second in command

who would take over and rule just like Putin or is there a chance that a less evil dictator would rule Russia?

Film Alice's Restaurant

Arlo Guthrie plays himself in this film based on his song of the same name. After getting kicked out of college, Arlo decides to visit his friend Alice (Pat Quinn) for Thanksgiving dinner. After dinner is over, Arlo volunteers to take the trash to the dump, but finds it closed for the holiday, so he just dumps the trash in the bottom of a ravine. This simple act of littering gets him arrested, and sends him on a bizarre journey that ends with him in front of the draft board. 1969

* The scene at the draft board/army induction is at 1:17 (funny!).

Officer Obie played himself....
"Obanhein was the "Officer Obie" mentioned in Arlo Guthrie's 1967 talking blues song "Alice's Restaurant". Obanhein later said that some of the details in the song were not completely true; he said he had not handcuffed Guthrie during the arrest and said the reason they removed the seat from the toilet in Guthrie's cell was to prevent theft, not to prevent suicide.Obanhein later would note that he would not have actually arrested Guthrie had the amount of garbage been smaller (he would have simply picked up the garbage himself) and that he meant to use the arrest and subsequent media circus as an example to deter any further large-scale littering incidents."

"Disagreements with Guthrie aside, Obanhein accepted an offer from another Stockbridge resident, Arthur Penn, to appear as himself in a film adaptation of Alice's Restaurant he was directing and co-writing. He told Newsweek magazine (September 29, 1969, where his photo appears) that making himself look like a fool was preferable to having somebody else make him look like a fool. Working on the film caused Obanhein to develop greater respect for Guthrie, and afterwards the two remained friends for the rest of Obanhein's life."

tRump walked out halfway through The Wall Concert by P Floyd in 2010

Roger Waters didn't know that this happened in 2010 at The Garden for the show.

"A couple of years back, I had the pleasure of interviewing Roger Waters, a man who has called Trump “pig-ignorant” and a “nincompoop,” and I told him my story of seeing the president of the United States of America completely miss the point of The Wall. Waters just laughed. “That’s interesting in its symbolism,” he told me. “I’m glad you told me that. I had no idea he was there.”

"It’s doubtful that Waters would ever welcome Trump to one of his concerts: Waters’ most recent tour emasculated Trump during “Pigs (Three Different Kinds),” among other indignities, and he told me he’s planning a 2020 tour especially to rail against Trump during election year. But if the president does show up again, let’s hope he hangs around long enough to see the wall come down. He just might learn something."

Do you think any GOP rep will vote to impeach

at the very end and will keep their vote a secret to avoid GOP backlash? Bill Krystol just said he believes this on MSNBC. I think he is delusional and none will vote that way EVER in both the House and Senate.

Protests planned and Indivisible has a TO DO LIST...

Protests planned and Indivisible has a TO DO LIST...
Your 4 weekly to-dos :

1. Sign up to make some calls connecting voters to senators to connecting voters to sen ators to demand a complete and fair impeachment trial. We’ve said this already, but we’re halfway to our goal of calling one million constituents of the 13 senators who really need to hear from them (senators who are vulnerable because they’re up for reelection next year and folks who are retiring and worrying a lot about their legacies). We're asking you to call voters in those states to turn up the pressure on their elected officials. It’s a simple four-part process:
2. You call a progressive voter in a key state with one of these 13 Republicans. These folks are your friends—they attended the Women’s March and/or fight for progressive causes.
You explain how they have power now. You’ll remind them why the continued fight for impeachment is so important—and why they have particular power in this moment.
You ask them to use their power. Then, you’ll ask them to call their senator and make their voices heard on why we’re demanding courage in this moment.
You push a button and connect them to their senator’s office. The call tool will allow you to automatically patch them through to the senator’s local office.
3. Register or find a Trump is Not Above the Law Impeachment Eve event now. The night before the House of Representatives takes a historic vote to impeach Trump, we'll head to every congressional office and public square to declare that Nobody Is Above the Law as representatives finalize their positions and senators look on. There are more than 265 events on the map as of now with more being added every day. Take a look to find (or host) one near you.

Hundreds of Thousands Expected to Join 'Historic Nationwide Mobilization' on Eve of Trump Impeachment Vote

"The night before the House of Representatives takes a historic vote to impeach Trump," progressive groups said of the anticipated action, "we'll head to every congressional office and public square to declare that nobody is above the law."

A coalition of progressive advocacy groups on Friday announced plans for a "historic nationwide mobilization" across the U.S. on the eve of the House's yet-to-be-scheduled vote on articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump.

Hundreds of thousands of people are expected to take to the streets around the country, said the "Nobody Is Above the Law" coalition, which includes MoveOn, Public Citizen, Indivisible, and Stand Up America, as well as more than a dozen other organizations.

Increase in taxes in CA will be 50% Jan 2020

Currently I am paying 30% is San Diego. It has increased at least three times in two years. This will make people go buy it illegally. Bad idea CA! They are now being too greedy and it will backfire on the state and hurt the industry as well as those who need it for medical reasons.

4 things most shooters have in common...

"Nearly All Mass Shooters Since 1966 Have Had 4 Things in Common:
The stereotype of a mass shooter is a white male with a history of mental illness or domestic violence. While that may be anecdotally true, the largest single study of mass shooters ever funded by the U.S. government has found that nearly all mass shooters have four specific things in common."

"A new Department of Justice-funded study of all mass shootings — killings of four or more people in a public place — since 1966 found that the shooters typically have an experience with childhood trauma, a personal crisis or specific grievance, and a “script” or examples that validate their feelings or provide a roadmap. And then there’s the fourth thing: access to a firearm."

Have I missed something? I have read this and the 5th thing they all have in common is that they are mainly MALES. Why isn't this addressed in the article? Is it because the men do not know how to address this or they choose not to? I watched Bowling For Columbine again about a month ago on MSNBC and Michael Moore said that he wouldn't add anything to the movie all these years later except for a couple things and the main one is that males commit most of the killings and that needs to be addressed but never is. Why is this? Because men do not have an answer/solution???????

Italy:Venice, Florence, Pisa experiencing record floods

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/flooding-in-venice-venice-hit-by-record-third-exceptional-tide-in-one-week-2019-11-17/

"...it marked the third time since Tuesday night's 1.87-meter flood — the worst in 53 years — that water levels in Venice had topped 1.5 meters. Since records began in 1872, that level had never been reached even twice in one year, let alone three times in one week."

About BigmanPigman

I am 57, retired teacher and illustrator, life-long dem., activist, union member. Also I do not use social media and I'm technologically retarded. I love dogs, rock music and swearing (a lot). My 17 year old "puppy" died on June 2, 2020. She grew up listening to Animals (Pink Floyd). She has kept me sane through the tRump years, not easy, and has given me endless love, companionship, kisses and tail wags.
