In new book Kushner says he hooked Murdock/Fux up with tRump....

https://www.businessinsider.com/kushner-stopped-trump-attacking-murdoch-2022-7

"Jared Kushner said he stopped Donald Trump from attacking Rupert Murdoch, according to new memoir".

"When Trump first entered politics in 2015, Murdoch was openly critical of him, once tweeting: "When is Donald Trump going to stop embarrassing his friends, let alone the whole country?"

"Kushner writes that he visited the media mogul in July 2015 after Trump became enraged by a New York Times story about Murdoch's dim view of him."

"'Rupert, I think he could win,' I said as we sat in his office. 'You guys agree on a lot of the issues. You want smaller government. You want lower taxes. You want stronger borders,'" Kushner writes."

"Kushner said Murdoch appeared to be surprised that Trump was serious about running and the next day called to tell Kushner he might have been "misjudging" the situation. He actually does have a real following. It does seem like he's very popular like he can really be a kingmaker in the Republican primary with the way he is playing it," Murdoch told Kushner, according to the book."

* I hope he has better stories than this one or his book will be next to Kellyanne's in the garbage can within a week.

A new CA gun law should force the SCOTUS to confront the enormity of its worst decision

https://www.vox.com/2022/7/25/23277211/supreme-court-gavin-newsom-sb-8-abortion-guns-california-assault-rifle-law

"Gavin Newsom’s plan to save the Constitution by trolling the Supreme Court'
A new California gun law should force the Supreme Court to confront the enormity of its worst decision in decades"

"California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) signed a law on Friday modeled after Texas’s anti-abortion law SB 8 — the Texas law which uses private lawsuits to target abortion providers. But there’s one important difference between the two state laws: California’s new law sends these litigious bounty hunters against gun dealers who sell certain guns, including assault weapons and weapons with no serial number."

"It’s a high-stakes gambit that will test whether the Supreme Court actually meant what it said in Whole Woman’s Health v. Jackson (2021), which held that because of SB 8’s unique style of enforcement, it was immune from meaningful judicial review — and thus would take effect despite very strong arguments that the law was unconstitutional at the time."

"Shortly after Jackson was decided last December, Newsom announced that he disagrees with the Supreme Court’s conclusion that states can dodge judicial review of unconstitutional laws. But Newsom also said that, if the Court’s Republican-appointed majority would give this power to states, then he would use it to limit access to firearms."

Hunky 'Clark Kent' look-alike steals the show at Jan. 6 hearings

https://nypost.com/2022/07/22/hunky-clark-kent-lookalike-steals-show-at-jan-6-hearings/

I thought it was just me until I saw I was far from alone in observing this attractive young man....

"President Donald Trump’s alleged role in last year’s violent attack, many viewers were thinking the same thing: Who was that hot Clark Kent look-alike sitting in the crowd?"

"That’s right, a Superman doppelganger stole the show at Thursday’s hearing with the hashtag “Clark Kent” trending on Twitter late Thursday night."

“Ok yes Trump is guilty….BUT WHO IS THIS…Ok Clark Kent!!” exclaimed one Twitter user of the then-unknown eye candy."

"The Man of Steely Gaze has since been identified as 23-year-old Alex Wollet, a medical school student from Ohio, according to TMZ, who reportedly unearthed his secret identity on Friday. (More on him later.)"

"The mystery man in question, who was seated behind witnesses Matthew Pottinger and Sarah Matthews, was sporting a sleek navy suit and glasses — earning him comparisons to Superman’s bespectacled reporter alter ego, Clark Kent."

"Social media went absolutely gaga over the handsome Man of Steel facsimile."

House Democrats tout bill to add four seats to Supreme Court

https://thehill.com/homenews/house/3564588-house-democrats-offer-bill-to-add-four-seats-to-supreme-court/

A group of House Democrats called for legislation on Monday that would add four seats to the Supreme Court, lamenting a “ultra right-wing” branch that just overturned the Roe v. Wade decision on abortion rights.

The eight lawmakers cited recent Supreme Court decisions that rolled back Miranda rights, threw out a New York gun control law and allowed religion to surface in schools — as well as the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health decision that overturned the right to abortion in Roe — in saying there was a need to add new justices to the court.

Facing Republican opposition and some Democratic skepticism, the bill has little chance of becoming law, but it illustrates the deep anger among progressive Democrats about the court’s direction under three conservative justices nominated by former President Trump: Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett.

Trump tried to call a member of the White House support staff talking with January 6 committee

Source: CNN

"Former President Donald Trump tried to call a member of the White House support staff who was talking to the House select committee investigating January 6, 2021, two sources familiar with the matter tell CNN."

"The support staffer was not someone who routinely communicated with the former President and was concerned about the contact, according to the sources, and informed their attorney."

"The call was made after former Trump White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson testified publicly to the committee. The White House staffer was in a position to corroborate part of what Hutchinson had said under oath, according to the sources."

"CNN was told the position of the witness Trump tried to call, but not the person's name. Details about the witness Trump tried to contact have not been previously reported."

Group offers up to $250 for SCOTUS justices sightings after Kavanaugh protest...

Group offers up to $250 for SCOTUS justices sightings after Kavanaugh protest...

ShutDownDC, a liberal advocacy group in Washington, D.C., said on Friday that it will offer up to $250 to service industry workers in the district for every sighting of the justices who overturned Roe v. Wade.
The group is specifically targeting Kavanaugh and fellow Justices Samuel Alito, Neil Gorsuch, Amy Coney Barrett and Chief Justice John Roberts.

What they're saying: "DC Service Industry Workers... If you see Kavanaugh, Alito, Thomas, Gorsuch, Coney Barrett or Roberts DM us with the details!," ShutDownDC said in a tweet.

"We'll Venmo you $50 for a confirmed sighting and $200 if they're still there 30 mins after your message."
Twitter has not responded on if the tweet from ShutDownDC violates any of its terms of service guidelines.
The big picture: Prior to the Supreme Court overturning Roe, the federal government warned that there could be a potential surge in political violence once the ruling was handed down.

Between the lines: Planned Parenthood, NARAL Pro-Choice America and the Liberate Abortion Campaign released a statement in late June saying they reject any and all threats of violence that come from the decision, adding that "[t]hey do not speak for us, our supporters, our communities, or our movement."

What is the definition of a terrorist organization and is the GQP one?

I know they are a cult but since they basically support shooters and their ideology can they be called a terrorist organization now? The "American Taliban" doesn't work for me.

About BigmanPigman

I am 57, retired teacher and illustrator, life-long dem., activist, union member. Also I do not use social media and I'm technologically retarded. I love dogs, rock music and swearing (a lot). My 17 year old "puppy" died on June 2, 2020. She grew up listening to Animals (Pink Floyd). She has kept me sane through the tRump years, not easy, and has given me endless love, companionship, kisses and tail wags.
