I promise, this is my last of my opening posts in science today (god, I love it). I enjoyed the posts on star formations (when and why etc.), but I had another 'gee whiz' ? about black holes.
First of all, they seem fantastic that they exist, despite being in Albert E's equations and he didn't even think that they (black holes) would actually exist. But they do (exist). Also, a greater and faster expansion of the universe continues today. Unexpected and surprising to those in the know about these things.
So, if (1) universe is expanding (most noticeable in-between the galaxies) and (2) there are greater and greater in numbers of black holes being created since day 1 AND according to Hawkings, black holes exist for a very long time but will eventually dissipate over perhaps trillions of years, that the ...
increasing number of black holes in the universe on a daily basis power the faster expansion of the universe (e.g. they both seem to increase in step w/ each other).
Physics break down within black holes (unable to adequate express equation wise, events within black holes). Could some facet of the already identified dimensions (26 (I think) was the last number of dimensions speculated about by those in the know here) be interacting in some way unknown to us to loop about and feed the ever increasing expansion of the universe?
That's my ? in a nutshell. I hope I wasn't rambling on, but this has been in my mind for a long time, and I was curious what you all think.
A question for my fellow DUers interested in the stars...
A question that perhaps someone can answer for me. I do read quite a bit and so forth, but 1 thing still escapes me. We all (most of us) know that stars form by hydrogen / helium gases (in clouds scattered throughout the universe) collapsing under the weight of so much gas, and eventually, after a certain point, enough gases and pressure has built up that nuclear fusion starts, and you have 'liftoff' or a brand new star.
I am assuming that this process occurs once a certain threshold of gases and pressure is achieved.
However, there are massive stars that from 10 to a 1000 times the size of our sun.
Why didn't these massive stars start burning as stars when they already had enough pressure and material after 1 solar mass of material available, e.g., like our own sun? Or put in another way, how did these super-sized stars manage to gather so much material before igniting into a star? If it ignited at 1 solar mass (like our own sun), then all other incoming gases etc. would have been pushed away by the solar winds.
So, how does a star gather up so much more material than our own sun before igniting?
Thanks for any thoughts and light you may shed on this (pun was not intended, purely accidental)!?
Any news of suburbs dumping homeless into large city limits?
Several years back, there was an outcry when some of the homeless being discovered in downtown St. Louis City were dumped by outlying suburban police departments. Have anyone noticed this practice too? I remembered this when articles on 'Hospitals dumping patients' started coming out...
Is this a common occurrence? Just curious if this practice happens elsewhere...

-wasting critical time of our legislators, his own administration, and the American people who has to deal w/ his nonsense;
-wasting way too much time on Tweeting, instead of picking up the damn phone and actually talking to people constructively;
-and even when he's on the phone, he spews nonsense, just like the two calls to Mexico and Australia, begging them to pay for a wall, or not send refugees because he'll look bad...Pathetic;
-he's wasting time watching TV (god, how much TV does he watch?);
-he wasting time golfing (god, how much golf has he played already this year?);
-he's running around putting out he's own brush fires (or rather, pouring more gasoline onto the fires he's ignited w/ his mouth);
-he's figuring out the next group of folks to insult, besides the democrats, former POWs, urban regions, transgendered persons, women, blacks, gays, Mexicans, Australians, Mueller, god, and the list goes on and on;
-etc.;
So, with the above list (and I've haven't listed near all of them), when does he really work for the American people? Measurements of his so called job achievements already are zip, zero, nada, zilch.
He's going to have to change his ink pens that have been on stand by to sign stuff...the ink is drying out, from not being used. All of his behavior is that of a typical bully, every bit of it. The best thing to do in dealing with a bully is to ignore them.
However, I'd have to admit that I enjoy the mocking and making fun of tRUMP immensely...
This is already happening...our legislators have blocked him from recess appointments while they are out of the office during recess, blocked his really bad attempts to take away health care, ignored his first budget totally, caused John McCain to declare that the senate was a separate and equal institution apart from the executive branch (in effect, declaring their independence) etc. etc. etc.
TRUMP is...and is now the worst president ever, in our history...SAD!
All of these positive steps are due to all of our combined voices on DU, Wash Post, NYT, CNN, and numerous other outlets not mentioned here...as well as unfortunately, the tRUMPs' own tweets...every time he tweets, we get more votes for our side...so let him keep tweeting...he's digging his own hole, after all, there has been a court that judged his pathetic tweets to be admissible in court...
How about changing elections in all states to at-roam legislatures (no geo boundaries), limits on $?
Not really sure how 'at-roam' works (someone maybe fill me in?), but since gerrymandering seems to be rampant, and done for multiple reasons (deny the voting rights of fellow citizens, and preserve a seat for a particular party), why not go to a total 'at-roam' process in all states, w/ no geo boundaries?
Also, dark money is flooding our election processes, especially since 'Citizens United'. If corporate or the like can donate unlimited amounts of $, and the other side/parties are forced to raise similar amounts of dark money, in order to effectively compete, the average citizen is left in the dust, w/ effectively no voice. This seems wrong and contrary to what the US Constitution and Amendments suggest (one person/one vote), and is impeding our freedom of speech kind of, isn't it?
There needs to be either limits on donations since the donating has evolved far beyond the abilities of what an average citizen with a median income in within a particular jurisdiction can donate, resulting in effect, elections up for sale to the highest bidder, possibly by folks / entities not even closely representing the views of the citizens of these jurisdictions.
There was a time that elections were somewhat dependent on public financing, but that went by the wayside as more and more candidates bypassed this since they could raise more money going a different route.
Perhaps make public money only means of campaign financing (as well as limiting amount of $ and length of election cycles). This would somewhat ensure no conflicts of interests exist against those of a particular jurisdiction, that is, what the actual citizens of a state want/do not want.
Or, in interests of 'Citizens United' concept, allow money (no more dark money) in up to a certain limit, and then after each election cycle, all unused campaign money goes immediately to each jurisdiction (instead of candidates, since money is really for the office being run for, and not the candidate themselves), kind of like the lottery, where winnings supposedly finances our schools, etc.
