I thought it was bad during W’s presidency with all the lies but we are at a whole other level of low now. We have Fox and republicans to thank for that. The demise of post-WWII Western democracy and values will be laid at the feet of Murdoch. In fact, in season 2 of Succession, the fictional character who runs a media empire and is based on Murdoch is getting a lifetime achievement award and his estranged brother congratulated him saying he will be remembered in history alongside Hitler. It was a while since I watched it but it was something to that effect.
This judge reminds me of the German Judges screaming who screamed and berated the
conspirators who tried to kill Hitler. And recall Kavanaugh screaming at the democrats during his confirmation hearing. Just a glimpse of the things to come when the radical right cheats its way to total control of all three branches of government.
For the past month I have been on a Renaissance kick watching and reading everything I can. Tons of
art history videos on YouTube, as well as documentaries and I, was thinking the same thing. From the Classical world of Greece to the rise of the Roman Republic the Empire to the Sack of Rome. Great societies rise up and eventually fall because of religion, superstition, and the rejection of science. Coming out of the Dark Ages they had lost the recipe for cement and marveled at the ruins created over 1000 years before. We see all the Savornella’s ready to burn books and art in the name of religion and the rejection of science. Julius Cesare was stabbed to death because he threatened the wealth and power of the Senate. Seems like nothing changes. The public today is all too willing to vote against their interest and reject science and reason in favor of religion and superstition. As I saw the people screaming about books in Va I could not help but think about the new coming Dark Age.

destructive power" of their persistently stupid
fellow citizens.
We are overrun by stupid people.
We need a couple dozen Lincoln Project type groups fighting back. It's time for Dems to ignore the
rules and norms like republicans have done and start go after the 1/6 actors and accomplices and drag them out of their holes and put them in jail. Get a friendly judge to jack up or deny bail. F the rules. Arrest Trump tomorrow on the Stormy Daniels illegal payoff. Would republicans have arrested Biden or Obama if they were unindicted co-conspirators? Go after Fox, The Federalist Society, Chamber of Congress, The NRA, the Proud Boys and charge them under RICO. Bend or break the rules if they must because because if we don’t start using our power while we have it to put the fear of God in these cowards we will lose our democracy. Look at the way the wealthy Republican donor Ken Lonngome (sp?) hired a private detective to follow former Gov. Spitzer and brought him down. Because if we know anything it’s that good guys finish last. Just look at SCOTUS. Let’s organize huge protests outside of Fox News and their hosts home. I will protest. Screw the rules just do something. Arrest people. Execute executive orders fining Fox and Newsmax for lying, who cares if it’s legal or constitutional just do something. Load up the Build Back Better bills with huge pork for WV and Az and announce it and take it to the people of those states to put pressure on Manchin and Sinema. Or close federal facilities and stop federal projects in those states. Delay paying federal benefits to WV and Az who cares if it is legal. Biden instructs the treasury secretary to stop social security payments to people of those states. Republicans would do this and way more. Hold up federal contracts and payments to corporations who contribute to republicans. Let them go to court and if we lose we will appeal. We need to start using Republican tactics to save our democracy. I’m so tired of getting walked all over by republicans. Make Kentucky citizens feel the pain of McConnell’s actions. Starve them out. Lay siege to these backward states. Dems will never win them. Be the blood sucking pagans that they accuse us of being. Like Russia did when they retreated when the Germans attacked in WWII burn it all down. Let’s see how long it will take for the republicans in those states to move against leaders like McConnell. If it’s a death cult they want then let’s help give them what they want. Isolate and deprive these states of everything federal and let them take it to court where we can obstruct just like they do. They want chaos let’s give it to them. Let them know that there is a price to pay for following stupid people with stupid ideas. If they go low we go lower and suck them under. Quarantine Covid states and shut down the airports and interstate travel into and out of those states. Turn their already feeble economies into dust. Let’s just take the fight to them using whatever tools we have because we might not have those tools after 2022. Let’s stop playing fair and see how they like it.

Put Zuckerberg in jail. Regulate social media. All speech is NOT protected speech. There must be
consequences for public officials flat out lying. The media must also be held accountable for spreading lies. Thorny issues indeed that need to be addressed by people far smarter than me. It used to be that broadcast licenses to transmit information and entertainment over the airways were held to a standard. Now we must regulate all broadcast media, cable, and the internet, and hold them to some minimum standard of decency and truth. Fox News and Facebook should not be permitted to use their power of persuasion to destabilize our government. Lawmakers should be held accountable for spreading blatantly false and dangerous lies. You do not have the freedom to take down our government claiming you are exercising your 1st amendment right. And we must deal with the illegitimate SCOTUS that will sit by and rubber stamp the RW theocratic march towards authoritarianism with their dangerous interpretation of the Constitution as a static document. To be sure, our founding fathers are rolling in the graves over the condition of our country.

Unlike Benedict Arnold who was one of our beat generals who felt under appreciated and when he didn’t turn the British viewed him as a traitor as well. Benedict Donald did nothing for our country and once it all comes out he should rot in prison. Trump, if he could have would have been a leader like Idi Amin storing the heads of his enemies in his freezer. Other evil leaders at least had evil motives and evil ideologies. Trump is just an evil bastard with no redeeming qualities.

I confront them and say you have known me for X number of years and do I look or sound like a communist? Then I hit them wit some truths that they find hard to deny by showing how intimately intertwined with government and how they really could not live without all the government intervention in their life. Some examples include food safety, water, air safety, sanitation, snow plowing, and government disaster response. Schools, police protection, a court system to enforce contracts and individual rights from the right to speak to property rights the list is exhaustive. Next time you get in an conversation with your rw creepy uncle hit them with these truths then tell them if they want to live really free without government intervention then put up or shut up and move to Somalia and see how long they last. Tom Hartmann taught me a lot about our relationship to our government and just how much we need and depend on government.
He finally expressed regret but too late for him. Reminds mw Steve Jobs after being diagnosed
with pancreatic cancer, the survivable kind, and he refused traditional treatment until it was too late. In Isaacson’s biography Jobs did express regret for not listening to the docs and friends who pleaded with him to ditch the holistic, mind over matter bullshit that he thought he could cure himself without traditional medicine. I don’t know why. I just thought of that. This radio host, by all accounts, spread lies and disinformation and now is suffering the same fate as Jobs. While I feel sad for Jobs because he really did change the world and could jave done so much more had he lived, Valentine is getting what he deserves.
