grumpyduck's JournalMy letter to my three reps (including Pelosi and Harris)
I just sent this off to them:
Once this nightmare is over, I want to request that you and your colleagues seriously consider something that the Founding Fathers could never have anticipated. After all, those were the days before you could buy a crystal ball on Amazon. But we can make up for it now.
We need some way to ensure that a sitting president can be made accountable for illegal actions, whether they be against the Constitution or against any other laws. The President cannot be above the law, and the argument that an indictment would interfere with his duties is bogus after all, taking over for the President is part of the Vice Presidents job. As you well know, what has happened recently is extremely dangerous to our nation, not to mention an embarrassment to the United States on the global stage.
Im not a lawyer, so I will leave the details to them. However, something as straightforward as creating a list of specific acts that a sitting president can be charged with would be a start. In my book, sedition would be at the top of the list.
With someone like this in the Oval Office, we do not have the luxury of spending weeks or months debating about impeachment. The last one resulted in absolutely nothing, and was once more an embarrassment to the United States on the global stage: it showed that the most powerful nation in the world has no mechanism for handling internal threats at the top executive level.
Please take this under serious consideration. With A Democratic majority in both houses, a measure like this could happen. Our future as a Democracy could depend on it.
And no need to hurry: we have four years to make it happen.
Sincerely,
I don't expect much in the way of a response, other than the form letters I received, several weeks later, the last few times I wrote them, but at least I got it off my chest.
Feel free to use if you want.
To all repugs who think Hawley's rights were infringed by the book's publishers:
All that sorry scumbag has to do is find another publisher, assholes.
I applaud Simon and Schuster for their decision.
From the Capitol Police website
Here's a tidbit about their chief of police:
So what was he doing yesterday, sleeping?
Any GOPers who object to the election results after this
need to be tarred and feathered and ridden out of town on a rail...
straight to Gitmo.
Dear Moscow Mitch:
Go fuck yourself on that nice antique brass doorknob in your office.
You're gone, asshole!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Per NBC News, Ossoff wins the Senate seat.
When this is over, I hope the new AG
will go after these assholes with everything he's got.
And any law enforcement people who didn't respond or let it happen.
Lou Dobbs for the win
for probably the dumb-shittiest comment ever uttered in the history of Planet Earth:

Serious question about donnie vs. Obama
Has anyone done a side-by-side chart (or something similar) showing the economy/etc. at the end of Obama's first four years vs. donnie's four years? Stuff like growth, unemployment, trade deficit, etc?
So is donnie going to sue the calendar now
and insist that it be turned back to November 1?
