Canadian Politician: "God bless" wife for shoveling driveway after her 12-hr hospital nightshift.

Canadian politician blasted for sharing photo of wife shoveling snow after her 12-hour hospital shift

Jon Reyes, a Manitoba Cabinet minister, faced the wrath of Twitter followers for standing inside in the warmth and taking the photo while his wife, Cynthia Reyes, shoveled snow in below-freezing temperatures.

"Even after a 12 hour night shift at the hospital last night, my wife still has the energy to shovel the driveway," Reyes tweeted Saturday morning. "God bless her and all our frontliners. Time to make her some breakfast."

The tweet went viral, but not for the reasons Reyes would have hoped. Twitter users berated the Cabinet minister for not helping his wife and for not having the driveway already shoveled before she returned home.

Black Woman Forced To Stand Naked and Handcuffed During Botched Police Raid Will Receive $2.9M

The city of Chicago has unanimously approved a $2.9-million settlement for Anjanette Young, who was humiliatingly forced to stand naked while handcuffed in front of a dozen officers during a police raid in 2019. Police officers mistakenly broke into her home during the botched event while pursuing a different individual who had no connection to Young.

Minyvonne Burke of NBC News reported that “Young, a social worker, was handcuffed while she was naked. She sobbed and told officers that they were at the wrong home, but she remained in handcuffs, according to a report from the Civilian Office of Police Accountability.”

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot apologized to Young for the incident in a statement, which took place before she was in office.

“Knowing that my words will not change what happened to you and your family almost two years ago, I nonetheless say I am sorry,” Lightfoot said. “If you can hear that my voice is hoarse, it is because I have been unsparing in my comments to all involved in this

colossal mess.”

They bought a blender. cats held the unopened box hostage. Vitamix sends them an empty box

It arrived on Dec. 16 at their home on Vancouver Island in British Columbia. Jessica put the hefty box down on the floor in the kitchen, just for a second. Her 4-year-old tuxedo cat, Max, otherwise known as the “sentient soccer ball,” jumped up on the box. Jessica thought it was funny and snapped a photo.

Then Max’s 13-year-old feline siblings, George: Destroyer of Worlds (“sentient potato”) and Lando Calrissian (“the questionably sentient dust bunny,”), demanded their turn on the knee-high box.

That was three weeks ago. Since then, the cats have refused to leave the box, fighting over who gets to perch upon it and taking turns standing guard while the others eat or are busy elsewhere. The blender remains ensconced inside.

--------

Vitamix took notice of the kitchen showdown and the odd request, reacting with a sense of humor on Jan. 4 and explaining a team had been ordered to “stop what they’re doing and #sendtheboxes.”

search party found the body of a Virginia man who tried to walk six miles home after his vehicle broke down during a snowstorm

The man, Jacob Whaley, texted his family that he was walking six miles to his Lousia County home after his vehicle fell into a ditch amid the storm on Monday evening, WRIC-TV reported.

-----------

The outlet reported that Whaley's family told authorities that they last received a text from the 34-year-old just before 9 p.m. informing them that he was lost.

According to the report, the Louisa County Sheriff's Office said deputies "immediately responded to the family's request" to check his path to his home near Greene's Corner Road, where they believed he might be. However, Whaley was not found that day.

----------

Whaley's family members slammed the Louisa County Sheriff's Office response to help him, with his mother telling WRIC-TV that she is "angry with this county."
