Chemo Scar Was Edited Out Of Yearbook Photos Without Her Consent

16-year-old Indiana resident Allison Hale and cancer survivor was devastated to see that her yearbook photo had been edited to remove her chemotherapy port (vein-access device) scar. Hale had ordered untouched photos.

“I wore a sweater to specifically show off my port scar. I love showing it off, I’m not ashamed of it. We all know, I’ve gone through Hell and back this last year, and I want to show off my proof of life and winning. I don’t want it covered up. I don’t feel ashamed or embarrassed by it,” Hale said in a Facebook post.

However, her chemo scar was photoshopped out of her yearbook photo.
“But seemingly, scars are uncomfortable. Scars are unacceptable. Scars are something to be hidden and to be embarrassed about," she continued, sharing the edited photos.

She added: ‘I truly feel incredibly disrespected and disgusted.’

The school yearbook photographers were quick to fix the image and apologize.

Hale had been looking forward to the photograph to celebrate how far she had come, and while the situation was upsetting, it left her on a mission to inspire others to embrace their scars.

‘Everyone looks different. Everyone has something, and everyone is going to have an opinion of themselves and other people,’ she said. ‘You need to stop thinking, “How do people see me?” and start thinking more of, “How do you see you?” Once that perspective changes, everything changes.’

The teen was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in 2020 right before Christmas. The news completely wrecked her.

$1.3M awarded to Black man arrested by Boston police after having a stroke

Al Copeland

-----------

When Al Copeland began experiencing stroke symptoms behind the wheel, he pulled over in the hopes that someone might come to his aid.

In 2019, Boston police officers reportedly found Al “slumped” over and “barely conscious” after having a stroke in his car. He had pulled over in front of the Berklee College of Music, Jarmanning reported.
----------

According to Jarmanning, police arrested Al, who was 62 at the time, with authorities writing in their official report that they smelled alcohol in the car. Al later told WBUR he hadn’t had a sip of alcohol since 1995.

----------------

Police footage reportedly shows Al barely able to keep upright under his own power after being taken to the station, at one point falling and banging his head against the wall of a holding cell, per WBUR.

Officers then left Al in the cell to “sleep it off,” according to police records reviewed by WBUR, eventually calling an ambulance after Al began vomiting nearly five hours after he was first found in his car.

man walks too near bull elk in Colorado... man had been warned

Elk not shown proper respect, knocks man over wall

A man who walked within feet of a bull elk as the animal stood guard over its harem was toppled by the animal in a scary incident captured on video.

The accompanying footage, captured by Eric Burley in the northern Colorado town of Estes Park, shows the elk flipping the man head over heels after a series of warnings issued by Burley.

Burley, who lives in Denver, said the man was not seriously injured. The footage shows passersby helping him to his feet, placing themselves in danger.

'The two male elks made eye contact and started showing teeth,' Burley told FTW Outdoors. 'That's when I knew to clear a path between the two and let mother nature take its course.'

But other tourist in the area did not take the hint to clear out and one passerby even ignored Burley's clear warning to get out of the way.

Burley captured the moment he tells a man in a Navy Blue puffer casually walking dangerously close a roaming elk 'Sir, watch out, watch out!'

Thankfully the man was not injured in the attack, Burley said, footage shows him getting up quickly and motioning to those around him that he was okay

A movement formed around Kyle Rittenhouse. It's a serious threat to democracy and justice.

A movement formed around Kyle Rittenhouse. It's a serious threat to democracy and justice.

------------------

What’s really on trial, though, is citizen vigilantism. At a moment when Americans’ willingness to use political violence has already skyrocketed, this trial’s outcome risks legitimizing individual violent action and galvanizing civilians who are unhappy with the direction of the country to take matters into their own hands. This is especially true for the political right, who have embraced Rittenhouse as a patriotic martyr.

During the past five years we have seen a significant rise in political violence in the U.S., driven in large part by support for violence and violent action itself from the right. Nearly 4 in 10 Republicans — compared to an already troubling 3 in 10 Americans overall — say the use of political force is justified if elected leaders won’t protect America. These findings are consistent with other data showing that a majority of Republicans now believe that force may be necessary to save “the traditional American way of life.”

---------

Rittenhouse became a cause celebre for the right, who rallied around him as a patriotic defender of liberty and a peacekeeper who had been unjustly charged. His image became a meme and a T-shirt icon used to taunt racial injustice protesters with the slogan “F--- Around and Find Out.” A legal machinery lept to his defense through the Fight Back foundation, which evolved into a bigger project to support “law-abiding citizens” who want to protect their communities and take the “country back.” Fundraising sites and hashtags urged supporters to “free Kyle” — along with donations and purchases of merchandise and apparel sold by his family — that ultimately raised the $2 million in bail that was posted for his release from jail.

Celebrating citizen vigilantism is dangerous.

Mattel remote job description: "periodic unplanned visits" from boss, no "caretaking of others"

Toymaker Mattel has removed language from a remote job description for its American Girl brand that said selected employees would be subject to “periodic unplanned visits” from supervisors during work shifts. However, that was far from the only requirement that raised eyebrows and provoked indignation over the job posting.

The posting for “Seasonal Customer Service Home Agents,” who process customer orders on the phone, gained traction in recent days after screenshots of the outrageous requirements were shared on social media. Besides unplanned surprise visits from the boss, the job also required selected employees to work in a closed-door area with “no distractions,” provide their own high-speed internet, and be free from “the caretaking of others.”

The company, home to brands like Barbie, Hot Wheels, Fisher-Price, and Masters of the Universe, did not spare details in its requirements. The closed-door work area, for instance, needed to be free from “distractions or background noise (ie: pets, children, machinery, music or talking),” according to a screenshot of the job posting on Twitter. Mattel also stressed in the posting that selected employees must be “focused on work” and not caring for people or pets.

“Freedom from other responsibilities – you must be focused on work and not responsible for the caretaking of others (children, elderly, pets, etc.),” the company wrote in the job description.

It appears that Mattel didn’t get the memo that we’re currently living through a pandemic, an extreme situation that has sometimes kept children at home for months at a time and sickened more than 46 million Americans, some of whom also have to stay at home when they are ill.

'This cannot possibly be legal': TikToker shows landlord's 'solution' to collapsing ceiling

‘This cannot possibly be legal’: TikToker shows landlord’s ‘solution’ to collapsing ceiling, sparking outrage

A TikToker recently claimed that their landlord provided a makeshift solution to a ceiling collapsing in.

In the roughly 20-second video, user @lollygaglab, who is recording the video, walks into a bedroom where a bended wooden beam runs from the floor to the ceiling. Their video has garnered 1.2 million views since posting Wednesday.

“It looks so ridiculous,” the TikToker said through laughter.

The TikToker didn’t make clear how long this “solution” was supposed to last, but made clear in the comments that they have a good relationship with their landlord.

“It’s a temporary solution,” they wrote.

Commenters, however, were a lot less forgiving. Many people pointed out that it’s likely illegal for the landlord to not fix their ceiling immediately and encouraged them to sue. Others said they shouldn’t have to pay rent until there was a long-term solution in place.

“This cannot possibly be legal,” one person wrote.

'Must Be Eliminated': Trump Republicans Vow to Oust GOP Members Who Voted for Infrastructure

'Must Be Eliminated': Trump Republicans Vow to Oust GOP Members Who Voted for Infrastructure

Republicans closely aligned with former President Donald Trump have threatened to oust the GOP House members who broke with their party to help Democrats pass President Joe Biden's sweeping $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill late Friday.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy had discouraged defectors, urging his caucus before the vote not to assist Biden in delivering on elements of his domestic agenda.

Still, 13 House Republicans crossed party lines to vote in favor of the bipartisan infrastructure bill, which passed 228-206. With six progressives in revolt, the legislation would not have succeeded if it were not for their support.

Eight of the Republican defectors—Don Bacon of Nebraska, Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania, Andrew Garbarino of New York, Anthony Gonzalez of Ohio, John Katko of New York, Tom Reed of New York, Christopher H. Smith of New Jersey and Fred Upton of Michigan—are part of the Problem Solvers Caucus, a group of bipartisan lawmakers who helped to negotiate the bill.

UC Hastings College of the Law to rename school after reviewing founder's role in mass killings of Y

UC Hastings College of the Law to rename school after reviewing founder’s role in mass killings of Yuki Indians

The UC Hastings College of the Law, California’s first law school, will soon no longer bear the name of its founder, Serranus Clinton Hastings, whose legacy includes profiting off the killings and displacement of Native Americans in Northern California.

The school’s board of directors voted Tuesday to change the college’s name after years of research and input from Yuki tribal members, whose ancestors were targeted by Hastings. The decision came after the school’s dean and chancellor, David Faigman, commissioned the Hastings Legacy Review Committee to provide a report and recommendations following an op-ed piece by a former adjunct professor that detailed Hasting’s role in the killing of Native Americans during the 1850s and ’60s.

In an interview Friday, Faigman said the report, which was delivered to the board of directors on Sept. 11, 2020, “told a very disturbing and horrific story of Hastings promoting genocide to his own benefit.” It found that Hastings, who came to California during the Gold Rush era, paid for and promoted expeditions in the Eden and Round Valleys of Northern California that resulted in the deaths and displacement of hundreds of Yuki Indians, whose land he later took for himself. Hastings later donated $100,000 in gold coins to the state to establish the law school in San Francisco.

“The effects of Serranus Hastings’ crimes against humanity echo in the conditions prevailing today for the descendants of his victims,” the report said.

newly dead flat earther/covid denier: "It's definitely not 'Convid' because 'Convid' doesn't exist"

2nd flat earther to die of covid

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/flat-earther-and-convid-denier-dies-after-experiencing-multiple-covid-symptoms/ar-AAQnfJv?ocid=msedgntp

A Canadian COVID denier who also believed the Earth is flat has died after suffering numerous symptoms consistent with a coronavirus infection.

Mak Parhar, an outspoken critic of masks and vaccines, recorded video two weeks ago in which he coughs, sniffs, complains of fever, chills, a sore throat and “so called ‘Convid’ symptoms” and wonders what became of his immune system. Parhar speculated that perhaps not sweating enough and being in a negative state of mind could be to blame for his illness.

“It’s definitely not ‘Convid’ because ‘Convid’ doesn’t exist,” he said.

-------

Parhar’s hot yoga studio was reportedly stripped of its license in March 2020 after its proprietor insisted a steamy workout would knock out COVID-19 and invited customers to visit. He has also shot videos inside health care facilities hoping to expose the “truth” behind the pandemic. One such video was filmed throughout the Royal Columbian Hospital at the height of the pandemic, when public health officials had asked that anyone not in need of urgent health care stay clear of hospitals.

Parhar said he’d also used Ivermectin, a parasitic drug, to treat his sickness. A coroner has not confirmed his cause of death. British Columbia Public Safety Minister Mike Farnworth once referred to the popular online personality as “a complete idiot.”
