Salvation Army's Donors Withdraw Support in Response to Racial 'Wokeness' Initiative

------

Entitled An Open Letter to The Salvation Army, Koukl prefaces the post by informing TSA that he is terminating his monthly donations and directing them to another organization. Koukl is also the founder and president of the Stand to Reason, a non-profit religious organization that "trains Christians to think more clearly about their faith and to make an even-handed defense for classical Christianity."

"There is a massive number of academics—Black and white, Christian and non-Christian, atheist and theist—who have raised the alarm against the aggressive indoctrination and, frankly, bullying of CRT—not to mention the racial essentialism inherent in the view, the false witness it bears against virtuous people, and the general destruction it continues to wreak on race relations in this country. CRT has set us back 50 years," he continued.

Koukl isn't the only one that's voiced his concerns over the new training created through TSA's International Social Justice Commission. It was last July that it was disseminated through emails, videos, devotionals and other materials to field officers serving poor communities across the U.S. by the organization's four territorial commanders.

That was after General Brian Peddle, CEO of The Salvation Army announced the initiative in February through a video in which he said "it examines racism through the lens of scripture, church and world history and guides gracious discussions about overcoming the damage racism has inflicted upon our world and yes, on our Salvation Army."

Kyle Rittenhouse Has Gotten Away With Murder--as Predicted

Kyle Rittenhouse Has Gotten Away With Murder—as Predicted
Rittenhouse’s acquittal is not a “miscarriage” of justice, as some might claim. It is our white justice system working as intended.

No doubt, some people will express shock at the verdict over the next few days. But Rittenhouse’s freedom is not a “miscarriage” of justice—it is our white justice system working as intended. This system is designed to free people like Rittenhouse: white vigilantes who kill to maintain the best interests of whiteness. It doesn’t always work (I still believe the people who lynched Ahmaud Arbery will be found guilty). But it works often enough (see George Zimmerman) that it gives comfort and confidence to any white person who clearly realizes that they might do an obviously illegal and violent thing (like, say, storm the US Capitol) and either get away with it completely or receive a light punishment.

We know that the system does not work this way for Black people. It is difficult even to imagine a similar set of circumstances for a Black defendant. Nobody honestly thinks that a Black teenager who got an illegal gun and then crossed state lines to shoot up a MAGA protest would be greeted by a sympathetic Black judge, in front of a predominately Black jury; be lauded by prominent Black leaders; enjoy favorable media coverage; and then walk free. Nobody credible thinks that. In point of fact, here is the full and complete list of Black teenagers who have killed two people at a MAGA rally to defend their community: …

Rittenhouse, however, shot and killed two people at a protest against police violence with an illegally obtained gun, and even the illegal gun charge was dropped against him. And that is precisely how a majority of white people want the white justice system to work. By their votes in elections (including elections for judges like Bruce Schroeder); their lack of support for criminal justice reform; and the cold reality that prosecutors favor white jurors when the defendants are Black, while defense attorneys favor white jurors when the defendants are white, we see that a majority of white people choose things to be this way. They want a system that will be, if not sympathetic, at least empathetic toward eruptions of white violence, while swift and harsh toward Black people accused of crime. We don’t have to live with a biased criminal justice system; white people, enough of them, just like it that way.

So white violence will continue, unabated. The Rittenhouse case started with a cop, Rusten Sheskey, shooting a Black man, Jacob Blake, in the back, six times, permanently paralyzing him. The cop was not punished. The outrage at that violence led to protests, which attracted another violent white boy, Rittenhouse, who killed two people. Now, Rittenhouse will not be punished. If you are the next violent white person, why would you ever worry about being held accountable for whatever despicable act you are planning? All we can hope for is that the next Sheskey or Rittenhouse isn’t gunning for us, or somebody we love.

There is no justice. And there is no peace. And if you complain about that, white people will show up to shoot you. Just like a majority of white people want them to.

grandma, granddaughter kicked out of GA hotel at night by cops after leaving negative hotel review

A grandmother and her granddaughter were kicked out of the Baymont Inn & Suites in Helen, Georgia after leaving a negative hotel review on a third-party website.

When Hotels.com asked Susan Leger, to leave a hotel she had no idea that it would lead to the police being called followed by getting kicked out.

Leger gave the hotel three out of five stars, writing to Hotel.com that the accommodation was rundown, pools were not open, and that the toilet didn’t flush well.

She then got a call at 8:40 p.m. from the hotel manager that she would be kicked out of her hotel room, 11 Alive reports.

“This guy is on my cell phone ranting at me, and he said that he’s kicking me out,” Leger said. “He’s called the police, and I have to leave the room.”

-------------------

Moments after the call from the hotel manager, an officer from Helen Police Department showed up at Leger’s hotel door to escort her out.

“They can truly kick me out in the middle of the night, from a hotel for giving a review of three and five?” Leger asked the police officer. “And he says, ‘yes, ma’am. It’s within the law.’

Spanish renters are declaring 'war' on the American investors that bought up all the apartments

Spanish renters are declaring 'war' on the American investors that bought up all the apartments in their neighborhoods

US private equity firms that own property in Spain have been evicting residents during the pandemic, the NYT reports.
Tenants and housing activists have declared "war," protesting evictions by squatting in apartments.
They argue that the investment firms have been profiting off the economic strain caused by the pandemic.
Renters who can't afford to pay their landlords are being evicted, and they're furious about it. They're especially mad that their landlord is a large investment firm headquartered in Wall Street.

But what if I told you this was happening thousands of miles away from New York City, an ocean away even, in Spain? And what if I told you the Spanish evictees aren't taking it lying down?

Large American private equity firms have been evicting renters from their apartments in Spain as the residents have struggled to pay rent during the pandemic. Renters, however, have been organizing against the landlords, lawyers, and police officers trying to evict them, refusing to leave their own homes and squatting in others.

A group called "Guerra a Cerberus" — War Against Cerberus — has been fighting back against eviction attempts, The New York Times reported this week. The organization, made up of both residents and long term housing activists in Spain, are protesting the firms that they argue have been profiting off the financial strain of the pandemic, as well as the court system, which they view as favoring landlords in eviction cases.

Lower vax rate central calif desperate to send hospital patients to southern calif hospitalss

The COVID-19 surge still affecting Central California is so dire that health officials are pleading with state officials to make it easier to transfer hospital patients to areas like Los Angeles County.

“We don’t have enough hospitals to serve the population and the needs,” said Dr. Rais Vohra, the Fresno County interim health officer. Hospitals across the entire San Joaquin Valley are “often running over capacity, so that they’re holding dozens and dozens of patients in the emergency department.”

Officials in the San Joaquin Valley are expecting a difficult winter. Vaccination rates are still relatively low, and in Fresno County, the region’s most populous county, the COVID-19 hospitalization rate is quadruple what is being seen in L.A. and Orange counties, and more than quintuple that of the San Francisco Bay Area.

Hospitals are consistently operating above capacity, and emergency rooms are still so packed that ambulances are stuck waiting outside hospitals to drop off patients, said Dale Dotson, operations coordinator for the Central California Emergency Medical Services Agency.

defense refers to Arbery's "long, dirty toenails" in attempt to paint him as criminal

Defense Lawyer's Remark on Arbery's Toenails Spurs Outrage
'Beyond rude,' is how Arbery's mother characterized Laura Hogue's comment

The trial over the shooting death of 25-year-old Ahmaud Arbery continues, and on Monday, one of the defense attorneys found herself taking heat for a comment she made about Arbery's appearance. Per 11Alive, Laura Hogue, who's representing Gregory McMichael, stood up during closing arguments and insisted that what prosecutors say happened on Feb. 23, 2020, in Brunswick, Ga.—when Arbery, a Black man, was gunned down while jogging through the Satilla Shores neighborhood after being chased by McMichael and two other white men—isn't how she sees it. "Turning Ahmaud Arbery into a victim after the choices that he made does not reflect the reality of what brought Ahmaud Arbery to Satilla Shores in his khaki shorts, with no socks to cover his long, dirty toenails," Hogue declared.

That comment brought a strong reaction from Wanda Cooper-Jones, Arbery's mother, who was in the Glynn County courtroom for the murder trial. "Wow," Cooper-Jones was heard saying, followed by, "I gotta get out of here," reports CNN, which notes that an "audible gasp" could be heard from others in the room when Hogue made her remark. "My son actually was running for his life in that description," Cooper-Jones said in a news conference later that day, per 11Alive, calling Hogue's comment "beyond rude."

Hogue—who appeared to have based her statement on the autopsy of Arbery's body, which stated that "the toenails are long and very dirty"—told the courtroom she expected that her description of Arbery would be "unpopular," per the Washington Post. CNN notes the defense for McMichael and the other two defendants, his son, Travis McMichael, and friend William "Roddie" Bryan, has continually tried to paint Arbery as a criminal throughout the trial.

About those NYPD cops who DeSantis praised for coming to Florida: There are issues

New details are emerging about the newest dozen police officers lauded by Gov. Ron DeSantis for moving to Central Florida from New York City to escape what the governor described as low morale and a lack of support from Democratic politicians there.

The new hires include one previously fired as a Walmart security guard, one with only three years of experience who demanded more than double his salary and others with mysterious gaps in their résumés.

One said he mistakenly checked a box on his employment application indicating he illegally used marijuana recently — then said he actually never did. Two failed to disclose on their Lakeland applications they had been disciplined over minor matters by the NYPD.

------------

In one incident, the newly hired officer in Lakeland was among eight NYPD plainclothes officers accused in a federal lawsuit of handcuffing and brutally beating a man in January 2015. The city paid $178,000 to settle the case. The man was left with four broken bones in his face, a dislocated shoulder and cuts and bruises — as the city dropped minor marijuana charges against him six weeks after the beating, the lawsuit said.
