the moment fireworks go off at southern California home stockpiling fireworks (happened tuesday)

------------

Two men killed in an explosion caused by a stockpile of fireworks at an Ontario home were identified Wednesday by family members as two cousins.

Ceasar Paez, 20, and Alex Paez, 38, were identified by family members as the two people killed in a fireworks explosion in Ontario.

Authorities said earlier Wednesday that Alex Paez, 38, and Ceasar Paez, 20, were missing after Tuesday's blast. Family members confirmed to NBCLA that the cousins died in the explosion.

Alex Paez's sister said the explosion happened at his home where their remains were found. He is survived by his wife and three children, she said. The younger cousin was visiting the home.

-----

The coroner has not identified the bodies found in the backyard of the home at the site of the explosion, which shattered windows of nearby houses and cast a debris field across about 80 properties. Bomb squad technicians were looking for unexploded ordnance in the neighborhood about 40 miles east of Los Angeles in a task that will likely require days to complete.

Once the bomb squad determines the area is safe, investigators will enter the property. Authorities still have not been able to access the home at the center of the explosion.

----------------------------

Enough unexploded fireworks to fill about 60 large buckets or boxes had been collected and were to be burned. But more explosives could be found and it could take days to clear the area, Ontario Fire Chief Ray Gayk said at a news briefing.

teller to Black woman trying to make withdrawal: 'I Just Don't Feel Comfortable Giving It you'

‘I Just Don’t Feel Comfortable Giving It to You’: TD Bank Teller Refuses to Give Connecticut Black Woman Money from Her

https://atlantablackstar.com/2021/03/18/i-just-dont-feel-comfortable-giving-it-to-you-td-bank-teller-refuses-to-give-connecticut-black-woman-money-from-her-own-account/

“I go inside, I had my TD bank card and my license,” Samuel said. “They were cordial. I’m not even gonna say they were rude.”

Businesswoman Gwen Samuel told Fox 61 a bank teller told her she didn’t “feel comfortable” giving her the money when she requested to withdraw cash from her account.

She waited for few minutes, assuming at first that nothing unusual was happening.

“And I see her over there and I was like, ‘Oh, she looks like she’s going through my account. OK, maybe that’s just the policy,’” she said.

What happened next made Samuel wonder if she was valued differently by the bank because of her race, despite having an account there.

“She hands me my license and she says, ‘I don’t feel comfortable giving you the money,'” said Samuel, who was attempting to withdraw somewhere around $1,000.

“So I got confused, so I said, ‘You don’t feel comfortable giving me the money,'” she said. “She said, ‘Well, you just deposited the check yesterday.'”

Samuel spoke up to tell the woman the check had cleared, and the teller confirmed it.

“And she said, ‘Oh yeah, it cleared. The money is available. I just don’t feel comfortable giving it to you,’” Samuel said.

Teen Vogue editor, 27, resigns over anti-Asian tweets she wrote as a teenager

Teen Vogue editor, 27, resigns over anti-Asian tweets she wrote as a teenager after Conde Nast lost a seven-figure ad campaign over her appointment: Anna Wintour KNEW about racist tweets but still hired her 13 days ago

Teen Vogue's new editor Alexi McCammond has resigned less than two weeks after taking the job over anti-Asian tweets she wrote as a teenager which surfaced online and cost Conde Nast a seven-figure ad campaign.

McCammond's resurfaced tweets include one in which she wrote: 'Googling how to not wake up with swollen Asian eyes'.

Another now-deleted tweet read: 'Give me a 2/10 on my chem problem, cross out all of my work and don't explain what I did wrong… thanks a lot stupid Asian T.A. you're great.'

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9377635/Teen-Vogue-editor-27-resigns-racist-tweets-wrote-teenager.html

McCammond issued a lengthy apology on March 9.

'What an awful introduction we've had to each other this week.

'This has been one of the hardest weeks of my life in large part because of the intense pain I know my words and my announcement have caused so many of you.

'I've apologized for my past racist and homophobic tweets and will reiterate that there's no excuse for perpetuating those awful stereotypes in any way,' she said.

The tweets were all written in 2011, when she was in high school, long before she took a job in journalism.

Before Axios, she also worked at MSNBC.

Originally after the tweets surfaced, she called them 'idiotic' and 'offensive' but not racist.

She then came under pressure to acknowledge that they are racist from stars including Olivia Munn.

spa shooter, went to sex addiction rehab and felt a 'deep sense of shame over it

Georgia massage spa shooter, 21, went to sex addiction rehab and felt a 'deep sense of shame over it': Former classmates tell how he carried Bible with him in high school

Robert Aaron Long was in a halfway house called Maverick Recovery in Atlanta, Georgia, in late 2019-early 2020

He was in treatment for sex addiction, which he felt a 'deep shame' over, according to others there

Tyler Bayless, who lived with him there for six months, revealed that every time Long visited a massage spa, he called it a 'relapse' and felt 'shame'

Long, who carried a Bible in high school, is highly religious and is the son of youth minister

A friend told DailyMail.com he got in fights with people who made fun of his clothes in high school

He was known as 'country boy' because he dressed in jeans, cowboy boots and a Carhartt jacket

Bayless, who says he was being treated for drug addiction, said he was in a halfway house named Maverick Recovery with Long in late 2019 and early 2020, and last saw Long last February.

It's unclear if he was in rehab before that or if he just sought treatment there. The center has removed all of its websites and social media pages and is not taking any inquiries.

He said Long had been treated for sex addiction and that he frequented massage parlors for 'explicitly sexual activity.' Bayless said Long was 'deeply religious' and would become 'very emotionally distraught that he frequented these places.'

'In the halfway house he would describe several of his sexual addiction "relapses" as he called them. He would have a deep feeling of remorse and shame and say he needed to return to prayer and to return to God,' he said.

KPIX reporter Dennis O’Donnell recorded footage from the scene at Market Street and Charles J. Brenham Place — where the woman, in tears, yells at her attacker. “You bum, why did you hit me?” she asked him in Chinese, as he was being rolled off.

She was leaning on a street pole, she said, when the 39-year-old punched her multiple times before he was detained by a nearby security guard, police said.

“This bum, he hit me,” she told a crowd of onlookers.

She was the second victim that day to be attacked by the suspect, police said. An 83-year-old Asian man was first assaulted by the man, police said, and was also hospitalized.

Tide wants you to do 3 of 4 loads of laundry with cold water to combat climate change

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/to-save-the-planet-tide-wants-you-to-quit-using-warm-water-for-laundry/ar-BB1eHMa8

To save the planet, Tide wants you to quit using warm water for laundry

Doing your laundry with cold water can help save the planet, and maybe save you some money along the way.

That's the message from Tide in a newly launched campaign to decarbonize laundry. The goal is for consumers in North America to do three out of every four loads of laundry with cold water instead of hot by 2030, up from about half today. That would eliminate the power consumption required to heat cold water.

If this goal is met, Tide told CNN Business it will have the same impact on greenhouse gas emissions as removing about a million cars from the road for a year.

"There is no tradeoff. You will save $150 a year in energy costs, your garments will last longer. And by the way, you're helping to save the planet," Shailesh Jejurikar, CEO of Procter & Gamble's fabric and home care division, said in an interview. "It's a beautiful win-win-win if we get this right."

The announcement marks the latest effort by a major company to show how it is taking the climate crisis seriously.

"This is going to be the defining decades for where we end up on climate change," Jejurikar said. "If we don't get this situation under control in the coming years, we are going to pay the price. There is a need to act now."
