Tennessee cop fired after being caught on video high-fiving N-word-spewing Trump supporter

The Tennessean reports that former Franklin Police Officer Seth Schilling late last year was called to a disturbance at a local bar, where an employee of the bar complained about a group of men causing a disturbance and yelling out racial slurs.

When Schilling arrived at the bar, he found a group of men in the bar parking lot, whom he questioned about the alleged disturbance.

One of the men responded by yelling out the N-word as a celebration of his Constitutionally protected free speech.

"N*gger!" yelled the man, according to video footage reviewed by the Tennessean. "See! First Amendment! First Amendment!"

The man also told Schilling that he was a "big Donald Trump supporter," to which Schilling replied that he was as well -- and then proceeded to give the man a high five.

"When Schilling was questioned about the high-five during an administrative interview, he said it was because the man was a Trump supporter, but after reviewing the video a second time said it was for the freedom of speech comment," reports the Tennessean.

Prancer, the 'Demonic Chihuahua,', 'rage machine' Finds a Home

An adoption ad said he was “literally the Chihuahua meme that describes them as being 50% hate and 50% tremble.” Undeterred, a Connecticut woman has adopted him.

?quality=90&auto=webpt

seemed hard to believe that a tiny Chihuahua described as a “man hating, animal hating, children hating” dog, a 13-pound “rage machine” and the “vessel for a traumatized Victorian child” could find a home.

But he has.

Weeks after the Second Chance Pet Adoption League in Oak Ridge, N.J., posted an adoption ad describing him that way, Prancer the dog was taking a morning walk on Wednesday on a downtown street in Connecticut.

At the other end of the leash was Ariel Davis, 36, who refers to herself as “mom or owner” after she adopted Prancer on April 17 and took him to New Haven, where she lives with a female roommate in an apartment with a backyard and no other pets. Or children. Or men.

------

Ms. Davis was one of the hundreds of thousands of people who read, shared and retweeted the advertisement, written by a volunteer who was fostering him.

?quality=90&auto=webp

Now, Prancer has his own Instagram account with more than 50,000 followers on Wednesday. His photo collection shows him clearly living his best life. He wears a bow tie, cuddles on blankets, has a wardrobe that includes at least one collared shirt, takes car rides and trips to McDonald’s and commands attention in the middle of a room, appearing, of course, like a very good, and only mildly demonic, boy.

Berkeley woman arrested after calling cops on Black deliveryman, blocking him from leaving

She saw the delivery driver speed by one Sunday evening.

The 35-year-old Berkeley woman, whose identity was not released by local police, told officers on April 18 that she thought a Black delivery driver for a postal company was driving too fast in the neighborhood.

She and her boyfriend, who was also unidentified, then trailed the deliveryman in their own vehicle. That led the couple to the 1700 block of Delaware St. right by McGee Street, a fairly residential stretch of downtown Berkeley.

After police arrived on the scene, the woman then told the cops of her attempts to confront the driver about his speeding. She “used force,” according to a statement from Berkeley police shared Tuesday, to prevent the driver from escaping the confrontation and used “hateful language disparaging of people of color.” While she called 911 — as did other bystanders at the scene, a Berkeley police spokesman told SFGATE — the victim of the altercation did not.

Shortly after, she was arrested by police on suspicion of battery, false imprisonment and hate crime charges, namely using offensive words and wilfully threatening a person based on their perceived characteristics.

Video Emerges of 'Inept' Elephant Hunt by NRA's Chief
One critics calls his shooting by Wayne LaPierre 'inept' and 'clumsy'

https://www.newser.com/story/305468/video-emerges-of-inept-elephant-hunt-by-nras-chief.html?utm_source=part&utm_medium=uol&utm_campaign=rss_top

A video shot for an NRA-sponsored TV series was hidden from the world for nearly eight years—until now. The footage, obtained by the New Yorker and the Trace, shows CEO Wayne LaPierre and his wife, Susan, shooting two savanna elephants in Botswana in September 2013. (The elephants have since been declared endangered.)

The video was originally meant to be shown on Under Wild Skies to help promote the NRA to hunters. LaPierre, under the direction of a guide, wounds his elephant from a distance with his first shot, but can't complete the kill, firing three times at point-blank range but at the wrong part of the elephant. The show's host finally fires the ultimately fatal shot. Susan LaPierre, however, didn't have as much trouble, killing an elephant by shooting it between its eyes. "That was awesome." she says, before cutting off its tail. "Victory!" she says."

The footage never aired, due to fears it would turn into a PR disaster for the NRA, and now that it's seen the light of day, those fears appear justified. "These intelligent beings certainly shouldn't be used as paper targets by an inept marksman," Tanya Sanerib of the Center for Biological Diversity tells USA Today, adding that she found the video "sickening," and that it was a "brutal, clumsy slaughter."

But an NRA spokesman tells the New York Times that the hunt followed all regulations and had the proper permits, and that such activity in Botswana is "celebrated" for its economic and cultural benefits. The Trace and New Yorker note that body parts from the elephants were shipped back to the US for souvenirs. Among those body parts: the elephants' feet, which were turned into stools for the LaPierres' home. More on the hunt here, including the video.

Morning southern california shooting spree that leaves 3 dead drops like a stone in the news

I guess life is cheap these days. This morning, we woke to helicopters and jammed freeways as LAPD completed a chase across two counties. within hours, it's difficult to even find details regarding the aftermath.

Two people who were killed in a shooting spree stretching from downtown Los Angeles to Fullerton have been identified Tuesday by the Los Angeles Coroner’s Office.

Police believe the driver of a white Jeep Cherokee was the gunman in three separate drive-by shootings early Tuesday in Exposition Park and downtown Los Angeles.

One of those shootings hit 25-year-old Alexis Carbajal, who was sitting in his car in the drive-thru of a Starbucks. Carbajal was shot several times and declared dead at the scene. His wife was with him in the car, but she was not hurt.

Minutes later, 41-year-old Mingzhi Zhu of South Pasadena was shot while driving his Cadillac Escallade at Figueroa and 7th streets. He was driving for Uber and had been on his way to pick up a passenger.

“The senseless acts of violence that took the lives of two innocent people, including Mr. Mingzhi Zhu who was on his way to pick up a rider, is heartbreaking. Our thoughts are with those who lost their lives and their families,” Uber said in a statement.

GA sheriff accused of restraining detainees in chairs for hours as they urinated themselves indicted

Georgia sheriff accused of restraining detainees in chairs for hours as they urinated themselves is indicted by a federal grand jury for civil rights violations

Hill allegedly abused several victims in the Clayton County Jail by strapping them to restraint chairs for hours even though they posed no threat

Hill allegedly sent a fugitive squad armed with handguns and AR-15 rifles to try to arrest the man on a misdemeanor charge

The Sheriff approved a policy that emphasizes that the restraint chair 'will never be authorized as a form of punishment'

Hill allegedly berated detainees for hours and refused to let one detainee use the restroom

The Indictment outlines Hill's alleged abuses against several prisoners who are referred to by their initials, starting with 'victim J.A' who was arrested without incident in February 2020 on charges stemming from an argument with two women at a grocery store three weeks earlier.

Hill confronted the man during booking, asking what he had been doing in Clayton County the day of the assault, the indictment says.

'It's a democracy, sir. It's the United States,' the man replied, according to the indictment.

'No, it's not. Not in my county,' Hill responded.

When the man asked twice whether he was entitled to a fair and speedy trial, Hill insulted him and said, 'You entitled to sit in this chair, and you're entitled to get the hell out of my county and don't come back,' the indictment says.

The man was then strapped into a restraint chair and left for hours on Hill's order, the indictment says.

----------------------

The final victim, identified as 'victim G.H', entered a dispute with a deputy over landscaping in April 2020.

------------------------------------

Hill then instructed a deputy the next day to take out a warrant for harassing communications and then texted the man to tell him to turn himself in, the indictment says. Hill then sent a fugitive squad armed with handguns and AR-15 rifles to try to arrest the man on the misdemeanor charge, the indictment says.

The man hired a lawyer and turned himself in and was strapped into the restraint chair for several hours, the indictment says.

Tennessee CEO fired after he's accused of harassing teenage boy who wore a dress to prom
The man, identified as VisuWell CEO Sam Johnson, denied the allegations and accused the teenager's boyfriend of editing their exchange.

By Matteo Moschella and Doha Madani
A Tennessee executive was fired after he was seen on video appearing to harass a teenage boy who wore a dress to his prom Saturday night, saying the teenager looked like an "idiot."

The student, Dalton Stevens, 18, said Monday that he decided to wear a dress to his senior prom in Franklin, about 20 miles south of Nashville, to show that "clothing is really genderless" and "it has no meaning."

He said he was shocked when an adult began acting "homophobic" as he and his boyfriend, Jacob Geitmann, began taking photos with friends at a hotel before the Franklin High School prom.

Stevens said a man approached the couple and asked whether Stevens knew what he was wearing. The man, who has been identified as VisuWell CEO Sam Johnson, is alleged to have asked why Stevens chose to wear a dress.

"I think I look good in it and that I really like the dress, and I want to show that clothing is genderless," Stevens said he responded. "And I explained that to him, and he continued to just call me names and just follow me."

Stevens alleged that Johnson called him "stupid," as well as vulgar names, in a homophobic manner and that Johnson told him that he has "hair on your chest, you shouldn't be wearing a dress."

After 'Despicable Act,' Court Says Man Can Sue Mich. Bar

The punch from Dawkins knocked Tyson unconscious, and Tyson's head bounced off the concrete sidewalk, according to testimony.

Although bar staff was alerted to what happened when someone went inside and announced that "an 'N-word' just got knocked out," nobody called the police, according to the summary of the case included with the opinion.

The bartender, Ian Graham, testified that he knew without looking it was Tyson who got knocked out because "we only have one colored in our town."

After 'Despicable Act,' Court Says Man Can Sue Mich. Bar
Edward Tyson's suit claims no one from BS & Co. called police after he was called n-word, assaulted

A Black man who says he was repeatedly called a racial slur and physically attacked outside a Michigan bar by a customer, an incident he says left him with brain damage, is now free to sue the bar after a lower court initially kept him from doing so. The Detroit Free Press reports that, in a ruling released Friday, the Michigan Court of Appeals cleared the way for Edward James Tyson's suit to continue against David Dawkins, the man who pleaded guilty to assaulting him, and Unthank LLC, the owner of the BS & Co. bar in Wolverine.

Per Tyson's complaint, he says he arrived at the bar with a friend on Sept. 12, 2015, to pick up a takeout order, but before he could even go inside, two people started calling him the n-word. Tyson says he "expressed his offense at the word," then tried to enter the bar, which is when he says Dawkins stepped in front of him, also called him the n-word, and then hit him, knocking him unconscious "for at least a minute," per the suit.

Tyson's friend says in the suit that Tyson's head "[bounced] on the concrete" sidewalk. Tyson says he doesn't remember anything else from that night—he says he was left with bleeding on the brain and frontal lobe damage—including after he says he regained consciousness and was attacked again by Dawkins before finally picking up his pizza and leaving. The bar, meanwhile, says it shouldn't be held responsible for the attack because it took place outside.

Tyson's lawyer isn't buying that, especially since a bartender working that night testified that Dawkins, who was later arrested, had a reputation as a racist, and because no one at the bar called police (though one night-shift manager says she offered to, but Tyson declined). "It was so obvious that a horrible, despicable act of racial violence was unfolding right in front of them," George T. Sinas tells the Washington Post. "And it was obvious that unless somebody did something this was gonna end badly."

The Minnesota Department of Corrections is investigating one of its officers after he was recorded taunting and shouting profanities at a group of Black people peacefully protesting police brutality on Sunday.

Sgt. Paul Gorder, who has worked at Minnesota Correctional Facility – Stillwater for more than 30 years, has been placed on “investigative leave” while MN DOC’s Office of Professional Accountability reviews the matter, a spokeswoman for the department told HuffPost in an email Monday.

“The actions in this video in no way reflect the values of the MN DOC,” the spokeswoman wrote.

In the nearly 40-second video, recorded on a cellphone by one of the protesters, Gorder can be seen giving the middle finger to a small group of demonstrators in Stillwater, Minnesota, about 25 miles east of Minneapolis.

“Fuck you, fuckers!” shouted Gorder, who was donning American flag shorts.

At one point, a blond woman standing with Gorder can be heard yelling, “All you fucking niggers ― get out of here!”

Multiple witnesses identified the woman as Gorder’s wife, Kimberly Beer. Facebook accounts for Gorder and Beer feature photos of them together.
