The Country Music Association has banned all Confederate flags and Confederate flag imagery of any kind at its upcoming festival for the first time.
The four-day CMA Fest in Nashville, one of the largest of its kind in the nation, will be held June 9-12 after a two-year suspension due to the COVID pandemic
Barring the Confederate flag was part of the CMAs updated policy to protect the safety of fans, the organization said in a statement to the Tennessean newspaper.
This years CMA Fest is our first major fan-facing event in nearly three years. We have always had policies in place that protect the safety of our fans and ban discrimination, but we felt it was important to further refine our language to explicitly outline what will and will not be tolerated, the statement said.
The statement didnt go into detail about safety issues concerning the flag, but the battle flags can be be intimidating and infuriating, and a flashpoint for conflict and violence.
Our event policy ... states any behavior that causes one of our attendees to fear for their personal safety will not be tolerated, and that is inclusive of any displays of the Confederate flag, the statement said.

Florida gator victim was warned to stay out of lake - over and over

A man searching a Florida lake for Frisbees may have died as a result of a possible alligator attack, according to a news release from Largo Police Department.
The victim, who authorities have identified as 47-year-old Sean McGuinness, was discovered along the shoreline of Taylor Lake in Largo, Florida, by a bystander walking their dog early Tuesday morning, officials said. Largo is located just outside of Tampa, Florida.
Investigators believe the victim was looking for Frisbees sometime during the night when an alligator attacked him. While the medical examiner will determine the exact cause of death, it was apparent that McGuinness suffered injuries related to alligators in the lake, the release stated.
According to management at Taylor Park, McGuinness was known to frequent the park and enter the lake with disregard to the posted No Swimming signs, authorities said.
Coinbase, Crypocurrency tech co, is rescinding already accepted job offers
Coinbase, the cryptocurrency exchange founded (and, up until recently, based) in San Francisco, is now rescinding job offers that were already accepted as headwinds continue to impact the tech and crypto industries at large.
In a letter sent to employees and made public Thursday, Coinbases chief people officer L.J. Brock said that the company would take back a number of accepted offers and outstanding offers just weeks after the company announced that it would be pausing hiring. (That halt will continue for the foreseeable future, he added.) Brock did not specify how many offers would be rescinded.
As these discussions have evolved, its become evident that we need to take more stringent measures to slow our headcount growth, Brock wrote in the letter.
Affected new hires were informed Thursday, Brock said, via email. An internal email leaked on the anonymous job forum Blind allegedly assured incoming hires that their offers would not be rescinded, even if they had not signed the offers yet.

Disneyland Paris apologizes after worker ruins wedding proposal, gets booed
The video is excruciating to watch: At Disneyland Paris, a couple gets on a dais with the newly-restored Sleeping Beautys Castle overlooking the occasion.
Disneyland Paris apologizes after worker ruins wedding proposal, gets booed
The man, dressed in all white, gets down on one knee holding a ring out to his partner with applause heard in the background. Just seconds later, an overly eager Disneyland employee bolts onto the platformed stage and snags the ring from the man while hes still kneeling. He then extends his arms out, gesturing the couple to get off the stage. Another worker, seen slightly off-frame, beckons for the couple to step off.
She said yes, the man says. The worker replies, Yes, thats great over here will be even better. A cascade of jeers can be heard in the closing seconds of the video.
The awkward scene was first posted on Reddit, with the user alleging that the man asked for permission before doing the marriage proposal at the park. (Responses online were almost uniformly critical of the Disney worker.)
"We regret how this was handled," a Disney spokesperson told Newsweek. "We have apologized to the couple involved and offered to make it right."

"I Found Condoms in My Son's Room. What Should I Do Now?"
I Found Condoms in My Sons Room. What Should I Do Now?
A reader, horrified by the idea of his offspring being sexually active, seeks advice.
Our 19-year-old son is staying with us during his colleges summer break. While my wife was vacuuming, she discovered a box of condoms under his bed. It was unopened, but I am still furious! My son knows that I strongly oppose premarital sex. Hes also well aware of my general philosophy: my house, my rules. When I confronted him about the condoms, which I discarded, he denied they were his. He claimed he was holding them for a friend, as if I were an idiot. I would like to throw him out of the house, but my wife disagrees. How should I proceed?

the man who groped teen girl on flight last year sentenced.. 20 months in prison
A 15-year-old girl recorded a Texas man groping her on a flight last year, federal officials said.
Now Vincent Harry Kopacek, 76, of Fredericksburg, is going to prison for 20 months on a charge of abusive sexual contact, the U.S. Attorneys Office for the District of Montana said in a news release.
--------------
Prosecutors said a 15-year-old girl recorded Kopacek sexually assaulting her on an Allegiant Airlines flight from Austin to Bozeman, Montana, on July 8, 2021, according to the criminal complaint.
The teen told investigators she was sitting in the seat directly ahead of Kopacek with her mother and sister.
Before the plane took off, she said Kopacek reached around her seat and touched her body, prosecutors said in court documents.
Hes accused of then touching the teen multiple times throughout the flight, including grabbing and squeezing her arm and touching her chest and breasts. He also tried to touch near her waistline, prosecutors said.
============
The girl recorded 20 videos of Kopacek touching her and took photos of him with her phone, according to documents.
In addition to his 20-month sentence, Kopacek was also ordered to five years of supervised release and to pay $363 in restitution.
Vince cannot explain his decisions and actions on that flight. It (is) the opinion of his friends and family, as well as the undersigned, that Vince is as shocked as anyone that he committed this act, his attorney wrote in his sentencing memorandum.
