White supremacy, like all other forms of terrorism, is an evil that must be destroyed.

A few minutes after tweetin about el paso trump tweets congrats to wrestling guy

On Saturday afternoon, while the country watched in shock as news unfolded about a mass shooting in El Paso, Texas that killed at least 20 people, President Donald Trump sent a pretty presidential statement on Twitter. “Terrible shootings in El Paso, Texas. Reports are very bad, many killed. Working with State and Local authorities, and Law Enforcement,” Trump tweeted at the time. “Spoke to Governor to pledge total support of Federal Government. God be with you all!”

All pretty standard fare. Except that a few minutes after the commander in chief sent that tweet it seemed his attention had turned elsewhere. Less than 15 minutes later, he wrote another message praising UFC star Colby Covington, a vocal supporter of the president. “Fight hard tonight Colby,” Trump tweeted. “You are a real Champ! #MAGA.”

The commander in chief then went on to retweet a little praise. He retweeted Fox Business Network contributor Charles Payne who praised “employment stats for Black American in July.” He then retweeted a message from Darrel Scott, a pastor who is a staunch supporter of the president, who praised Trump’s involvement in helping A$AP Rocky when he was detained in Sweden. The commander in chief then retweeted another message from Scott, whom he called “a great guy—and tough!” He followed that up with a retweet from i24 News that features an interview with Scott, who obviously praised Trump.

Trump prepares push to woo black voters

https://www.politico.com/story/2019/08/03/trump-black-voters-2020-1445491

Critics may find the timing of the outreach outrageous. But the campaign hopes that if it can shave just a few points off Democrats’ overwhelming support among blacks, it can boost voter turnout in eight or so key states such as Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania — each of which Trump won by less than one percentage point.

The campaign’s pitch to African Americans is simple: Ignore the president’s words and instead focus on his policies, like the state of the economy and the low unemployment rate, the passage of criminal justice reform or the creation of Opportunity Zones, which are meant to bolster investment in underserved or poorer cities.

When Trump took office in January 2017, the unemployment rate among blacks was 7.7 percent. Friday’s jobs report pegged it at 6 percent for July.

“Do I think some of his verbal formulations are inartful? Yeah,” said Ken Blackwell, the former mayor of Cincinnati, former Ohio Secretary of State and a top Trump transition official. “But for me, as a domestic policy adviser during the Trump transition, it has been all about the agenda, a set of results and tomorrow. You have to believe his policy agenda flies in the face of the false narrative of the racist-in-charge.”

But for others, the Trump rhetoric cannot be divorced from his record, and critics argue he must take responsibility for that as president. A recent Quinnipiac University National Poll, released on July 30, showedthat 80 percent of African American voters surveyed considered Trump racist.

Trump's attacks on Democratic cities ignore poverty in GOP states

Trump's attacks on Democratic cities ignore poverty in GOP states

Washington (CNN) — There are plenty of problems in places President Donald Trumpvisits for his campaign rallies, but he's more likely to talk about how beautiful they are.

That included Cincinnati, which Trump described during a stop this week as "on the banks of the beautiful Ohio River, with the hardworking patriots of the American heartland."

Compare that description with his attacks on Baltimore spotlighting poverty and urban decay. The majority-black city, the President said this week, is a "disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess" and "no human being would want to live there."

The difference? Baltimore is home to Democratic Rep. Elijah Cummings, chairman of the House Oversight Committee. In Trump's worldview, people who are opposed to his policies are bad. And people who like him are good. It's a simple, binary equation for him

Horrifying step towards extinction: 2% of worlds North Atlantic right whales died in past 2 months

Two percent of the world’s North Atlantic right whales have died in the last two months

A Canadian surveillance plane was scanning the waters of Gulf of St. Lawrence when it made a grisly discovery: The carcass of a North Atlantic right whale, one of some 400 remaining in the world, was drifting in the current, much of its skin sloughed off.

From there, the news would only get worse. The next day, another dead right whale was spotted in the same body of water. And an 18-year-old right whale was entangled in fishing gear near Quebec, with a rope cutting into its head and over its blowhole.

It’s been a devastating summer for the endangered marine mammal. Since the start of June, eight North Atlantic right whales — or 2 percent of the global population — have been found dead in Canadian waters, alarming scientists, conservationists and government officials who had believed they had begun to make progress in protecting the imperiled species.

“It’s a horrifying step toward extinction,” said Regina Asmutis-Silvia, the executive director of Whale and Dolphin Conservation USA. “They’re a quiet, understated superhero, and we’re losing them.”

Necropsy results are still pending for most of the whales, but preliminary findings for three of them suggest ship strikes.

Particularly troubling about this year’s deaths is that four of the whales were breeding females, of which fewer than 100 remain. Calving rates have dropped 40 percent since 2010, according to scientists at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, making the deaths of the females a major blow.

“This is currently very clearly not sustainable,” said Philip Hamilton, a research scientist at the New England Aquarium in Boston. “At this rate, in 20 years, we’re going to have no more breeding females, and the population will be effectively extinct.”
