His landlady, the owner, and occupant of the rowhouse's lower unit did not recall any such incident and the Times found no police report of any vandalism at the address during that time.

In March 2022, Santos told Newsday that he had moved out of the Whitestone rowhouse and moved into an unspecified other neighborhood because of the vandalism, but seven months later, Santos said that he still lived in the Whitestone home.

Rep.-elect George Santos made additional false claims over the years about his family history, work history and education in campaign appearances over the years, a review of statements made in two of his campaigns for Congress found.

CNN’s KFile uncovered more falsehoods from Santos, including claims he was forced to leave a New York City private school when his family’s real estate assets took a downturn and stating he represented Goldman Sachs at a top financial conference where he berated the company for investing in renewables.

CNN also reviewed more instances of Santos providing additional false history of his family’s background. In one interview, Santos said his mother’s family’s historical Jewish name was “Zabrovsky,” and later appeared to operate a GoFundMe campaign for a pet charity (which he falsely claimed was a 501(c)(3) nonprofit) under that alias. Genealogists CNN previously spoke with found no evidence of Jewish or Ukrainian heritage in his family tree.

In another, he said his mother, whose family has lived in Brazil since the late 1800s, was a White immigrant from Belgium.

The current pope, 86, told those at the Vatican Wednesday the 95-year-old former pope is “very sick,” CNN reports.

“I want to ask you all for a special prayer for Pope Emeritus Benedict who sustains the Church in silence,” said Francis, calling on “the Lord to console and sustain him in this witness of love for the Church to the very end.”

Earlier this year, the former pontiff made headlines again, not for his health or age but for alleged mishandling of sexual abuse cases.

An investigation commissioned by the Church this past January showed Benedict was not only aware of clergy sexually abusing children when he was Munich’s archbishop, but that he had neglected to act. Benedict served in the role of archbishop from 1977 to 1981, well before he was elected pope in 2005.

It wasn’t long before Benedict requested forgiveness for any “grievous faults” concerning his inaction, though he did not personally apologize to those affected in the four cases, nor did he admit to any wrongdoing.

The Sun newspaper says it regrets publishing a Jeremy Clarkson column about the Duchess of Sussex and is "sincerely sorry".

More than 20,000 complaints were made to the press regulator after the broadcaster wrote last week that he hated Meghan "on a cellular level".

A New Jersey Republican is challenging an absentee ballot cast by his daughter after losing his re-election bid by three votes.


Morris County Republicans intend to file a lawsuit contesting the results of the Nov. 8 election after Mendham Township committeeman Tom Baio lost his campaign for another three-year term, in part because his own daughter voted Democratic in a ballot he placed in the mail himself, reported the Observer-Tribune.

"Like many parents driven by a sense of duty, we were wrong to advance the VBM to my daughter, Ariana," Baio said. "My daughter did answer the call of duty and did vote by the mail-in ballot. We all need to correct this behavior. As parents, and as citizens of towns as great as Mendham, I call on all Mendham residents next year to heed this example. As shameful as it is, we need to correct this behavior. I know I will."
