Speaker Nancy Pelosi Appreciation Thread

Thank you, Madam Speaker, for standing up for the Constitution and rule of law, for not batting an eye or flinching an inch in the face of onslaughts from your right and left, for always keeping your keen eyes focused forward on what is best for the country, and for knowing precisely when the exact right time would come. And now that it is here, thank you for seizing it and guiding it with extraordinary foresight, unparalelled skill, and exquisite grace.

Thank you for being our leader and champion.

Tim Wise describes the typical Trump voter to a "t"

The typical Trump voter is the guy at the end of the bar who still talks about his high school football heroics bc that was the high point of his life, and who blames people of color & feminism for messing up his world instead of the rich white folks who never cared about him.

but he still thinks he'll be rich some day so he gives the rich a pass so long as he can still rhetorically and politically beat up on people of color, immigrants and libs...

his addiction to the psychological wage of his whiteness (as noted by WEB DuBois) as well as the psychological wage of his masculinity, Christianity and heterosexuality allows him to let himself be exploited by the rich so long as he get so keep his edge over "those people"

there comes a point where one can be empathic to this person's pain but yet insist that we can no longer coddle them in their indulgence of fantasies: of whiteness, manhood, etc. It is time for such persons to grow up. Self help. Y'all preach it but don't know of the practice

I should have said Trump base cultist here...obviously there were lots of better off folks who voted for Trump. But they didn't NEED him psychologically...

all the things he gave them (tax cuts) they could have gained thru any R president. Only the end of the bar guys needed him.

Has Tulsi Gabbard spoken up to defend Vindman?

If she has, I can't find anything.

If she hasn't, why hasn't she? She certainly willingly accepted the defense and protection of people who thought her status as a veteran afforded her some special immunity from criticism.

Shannon Watts: "They're like robots trying to mimic humans"

Except robots are warmer and have better personalities.
What Americans don’t know you put Halloween candy in the bag the kid is carrying and not on top of their head? They’re like robots trying to mimic humans.

The Dems are on message and on point!

I love that every House Democrat I've seen interviewed since Pelosi announced Thursday's vote on impeachment proceedings has been completely on message and all are, in one voice and with razor-sharp clarity, explaining exactly what they're doing and pushing back on any mischaracterization of what the resolution is about.

Bravo, Democrats!!!
