Kansas tightening rules for adults receiving food assistance

TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — Kansas will be tightening its rules for adults receiving food assistance even though critics have
warned that its new law is so sloppily written that it will apply to thousands more people than supporters intended.

The Republican-controlled Legislature on Thursday overrode Democratic Gov. Laura Kelly's veto of a GOP bill imposing
a new job-training requirement for non-disabled adults. The changes will take effect July 1.

GOP lawmakers have long argued that tighter rules for people receiving public assistance, coupled with state-provided
job training, moves people from being dependent on the state's help into jobs.

In her veto message earlier this month, Kelly said the measure would “unnecessarily burden” some 30,000 adults.
Republicans have put the number affected at less than half that, or about 12,000 adults.

This will be my last post helping JHB out.

How Congress could kill "The Big Lie"

Repugs in my red town are justifying The Big Lie by saying Ds done it with computer hacks on voting
machines and they're working on getting the proof (keep the lie alive). I assume this talking point is typical
in all 50 States. Keeping in mind Rs made a stink about the Dominion Voting Systems should be outlawed,
and replaced with their favorite E S & S which have been proved more hack-able.

So, Democrats should agree with Rs that voting machines could be a problem in this day & age of computer
hackers getting more sophisticated, propose legislation that all future elections be by paper ballots only to
ensure we have accurate & honest elections where the voters have spoken.

Now Rs will find reasons why we can't do this, one probably being "vote counting machines can be hacked",
a simple solution would be to have say a 100 pre-made ballots where Rs & Ds each win 50% and run these
through the machines before & after use to see if they do in fact record 50/50.

Plus all the repugs that would vote against this legislation, we can use that vote against them on the
campaign trail. We have a slim majority now, lets use it and stop any possible cheating by Rs.
