Putin may not be as stupid as people think

IMO This invasion is way more than Russian nationalism and Putins philosophy that Ukraine is a part of Russia no matter what. Its way more than that. Its a further effort to destabilize democracies in not only Europe but here also. Eastern European democracies are as tentative as our own. Most of them elected their own version of Trump in the last 4 or 6 years. Those that got elected were driven by nationalism after the Arab spring and especially after the geocide in Syria, driving huge populations of refugees into European countries. The same philosophy is at play here. Putin doesn't care how many people die, hes betting odds on people that give a shit, that will take refugees. He's played the racism for refugees from the middle east, now he's driving a refugee crisis into countries that are prepped with nationalist leaders, but now building on the ancient divides of central Europe. How long do you think Poland, Romania, Hungary, 2 out of three have a nationalist leader, are going to tolerate Ukrainian refugees.? These are the complexities of this. Is Zelenski going to be forced to succumb to Putins demands 6 months from now because the border countries are going to be faced with internal turmoil from their right wing parties over refugees? Putins strategy may be that. Of course he doesn't care how many die to get there, but it is his ultimate goal, and the goal of fascists worldwide. We are and have been in world war. This could be the first true blood drawn for freedom.

Ukrainian Sand Art

I saw this right after the Orange Revolution. To this day it brings tears to my eyes. Its a story of her great grandparents, of the heart of the Ukrainian people. Its not only great art, it's a story of grief and the promise of love. Its a story in all of us if we just look. Freedom owes so much to the sacrifices of the Ukrainian people over the last 100 years. 20 million, maybe more.

40 years later and nothing has changed

I feel things are even worse. As a diehard RUSH fan since the age of 12 in 1974 this song rings as, if not more, true for these times as the times 40 years ago when it was released. Tom Sawyer is fine, but this was the most important song on that album IMHO. Lyrics below the video.

If we don't get out the vote in November the world loses

Ukraine just amped up the 2022 election 10 fold. IMO this is a pivotal time in modern history akin to the world wars of the 20th century. Democracies worldwide have been failing since this asshole took power. The US is now considered a failing democracy. I believe the grand plan is for putrid to keep the Ukraine situation in a quagmire for the next 6 to 8 months. If the reputrids take at a minimum the house and possibly the Senate, it's over. Seriously, it's over, he wins. Think about it, whats to stop the putrid faction after that. They'll have 2 years to prep this country, stop fighting putrid and more so enabling him, expand cover for oligarchs worldwide, prosecute here beyond the scope of law and continue the destruction of democracy worldwide either politiacally or with their strongman.

I seriously think if we cant get this fucker out of power in Russia in the next 6 months we are fucked. If all of us don't show up to piss on the off cycle polls and make a difference we are fucked. theres no coming back from this. WE wont have a USA or NATO to supply us arms when our dumbasses want a refund. VOTE VOTE VOTE, get others to VOTE VOTE VOTE!!!!!!!!

Sec. Blinken and a U.S. Congressional delegation

led by Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee Gregory Meeks are in Poland. I was watching adsbexchange.com a couple hours ago and a C32A left Rzeszow Poland, were they were meeting various officials and "touring" the relief/refugee efforts, and landed in Moldova. I thought that was interesting as it wasnt on the schedule. Moldova has been dealing with their own Russian separatist movement for awhile, but could be in a position to "bend" some rules as they are not in the EU (They just applied) or NATO and are the only country as such that directly borders Ukraine. There has been a big increase in diplomatic flights around Eastern Europe in the last 48 hours. May mean nothing, but may show fluidity on the diplomatic front. Something to ponder.

Several reports of downed Russian aircraft

including 2 SU34's, being reported in the last 24 hr's. 6 fighter/bombers and 3 helicopters by my count, some of which yet to be confirmed. Could be a good sign that that the weapons being supplied are getting where they need to be.

Swedish defense minister calls Russian violation of airspace 'unacceptable'

STOCKHOLM (Reuters) -Four Russian fighter jets briefly entered Swedish territory over the Baltic Sea on Wednesday, the Swedish Armed Forces said, sparking a swift condemnation from Sweden's defence minister.

Two Russian SU27 and two SU24 fighter jets briefly entered Swedish airspace east of the Swedish island of Gotland in the Baltic Sea, Sweden's Armed Forces said in a statement, adding that Swedish JAS 39 Gripen jets were sent to document the violation.

"The Russian violation of Swedish airspace is of course completely unacceptable," Defence Minister Peter Hultqvist told news agency TT. "It will lead to a firm diplomatic response from Sweden. Swedish sovereignty and territory must always be respected."

Sweden's Armed Forces said the situation was under control and that the incident showed preparedness was good.
