A Snowy Owl in Orange County, California

You no doubt may have heard about the snowy owl that has appeared in Orange County, Ca. this week. It has been getting national news attention. It's only about thirty minutes from our home. I've posted these in the photography and Lounge forums, but I felt they needed to be posted here too.

Just for fun

I've been working on my year-end calendar and playing around with some old files. I love this closeup of a house finch at my backyard feeder. Full disclosure, I ran the image through both PhotoAI and SharpenAI. I'm just a sucker for super sharp images.

Balllarat Ghost Town

Ballarat Ghost Town lies in Panamint Valley, a desolate area that lies on Death Valley's western border, and shares its forbidding climate and terrain. I was in the area for a Dark Sky Festival, but I couldn't wait to spend some time here as well.

This truck pictured below allegedly belonged to Tex Watson of the Manson Family. Their hideout was nearby.

It seems I have to go back. I didn't know there was a cemetery.

About Grumpy Old Guy

Thank you Democratic Underground for keeping me sane for the last four years. I think I was probably the longest lurker here. I started following DU during the Dubya administration. I was first attracted to the "Top Ten Conservative Idiots of the Week." I've been following along ever since. I always felt guilty for not participating, but refrained from doing so because I already spend way too much time online. However, after recent events, I just can't sit back any longer. I had to log on and thank you folks for all that you do. I'm a retired TV newscast director with forty years experience and more than eighteen thousand broadcasts under my belt, most of them live. I now travel the country (when I can) shooting landscape, astro and wildlife photography. You can see some of my photos at Ross-Kestin.Pixels.com or on Instagram at @oldguywithacamera. Thanks again!
