Mouse Fever is mowing down Russian invaders

This is another story on the epidemic of mouse borne disease in the Russian trench lines...

This article suggests it could be "rat-bite fever" compared to other stories that suggest it's a Hantavirus.

Hanta has no cure and no treatment. Hanta viruse kills from 1 to 38 percent of the people it infects. Rat-bite fever can also kill humans.

Anti-biotics are effective against rat-bite fever, but Russian forces have low levels of medical care and are subject to poor hygiene opportunities.

Hanta virus (mouse borne) is causing illness among the Russian invaders

I could say that even nature hates the Russian invading terrorists, but hemorrhagic viruses really don't have such feelings.

So I'll just say Russians are repeating old war problems. If you've ever read "Rats, Lice, and History", you're aware that historically Eurasian wars end with finally both sides get sick, not of the killing, but of being sick and dying.

Hanta was a big problem for entrenched American forces in the Korean War.

Russian soldiers are reporting a 'mouse fever' epidemic in multiple frontline entrenchments, according to Ukrainian intel

Couldn't happen to more deserving guys.

Ukraine has destroyed 90% of Russia's pre-invasion forces

BUT the GOP says Ukraine is LOSING!

Wut???

I know we live in a time of the big lie and strong propaganda, but NO ONE expected Ukraine to still exist this far into the conflict.

The problem for Ukraine is getting the US and the EU to ignore the lack of one summer's counter offensive ground gains and see the destruction and retreat of the Russian naval forces from the Black Sea, and FIGHTING THE STRONGER POWER TO A STALEMATE BY THE WEAKER POWER as a REMARKABLE achievement.

Why does the GOP want PUTIN to acquire Ukraine?

I fail to see the advantage of that outcome to the USA

Jews wandered for 40 years after walking on the parted Red Sea floor

If Johnson wants a Red Sea moment so he can take the R's for a 40 year sojourn in the wilderness,

Maybe we should encourage him to think he's Moses.

Baptist minister says GOP stands with SATAN!!!!!!

In the cited article he names Mike Johnson as a "CRUEL Conservative"

I loved this part of his rant:

... I am compelled to believe in the devil," Manderson explained. "But I see him much more at home within the evangelical movement than in most liberal causes. It is well understood in Christian history that the best place to disrupt goodness is through the church itself. Consider the Spanish Inquisition, the Crusades, the history of American slavery, the attempted genocide against Native Americans and the oppression of women. All these evils are or were firmly backed by biblical theology — at least, as many Christians understand it — and, in my opinion, are all fully endorsed by the devil himself. This is now true of the evangelical political movement, which I believe is led by the devil and his followers."

Trump Atty scores goal... but for the Prosecutor!!!

From Raw Story about ABC report

...Trump attorney Jennifer Little told a grand jury that she "very clearly" warned the ex-president that he must comply with a federal subpoena for the classified documents he took home from the White House, and she's "absolutely" certain that he understood that failure to do so would be a "crime" — testimony that stunned CNN legal analyst Elie Honig Thursday.

Progressivism threatens Faith (in Free Church of England)

A progressive christian Is a fake christian, and christiantity is inherently conservative argues Calvin Robinson a deacon in the "Free Church of England". https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/opinion/a-progressive-christian-is-a-fake-christian-deacon-robinson-argues-liberalism-threatens-faith/

Well, that is probably true if your religion is based on closed minded, outdated ideas that arose in an archaic culture, not suited for modern rule, by men demanding tithes from the lumpenproliteriat so that those men can live prosperous parasitic existences keeping alive far too many of the accumulated ills of long-past society. We don't need a godship modelled on authoritarian all powerful monarchy. We especially don't need or want a society directed by self-appointed dictators claiming they represent on earth such celestial authority.

Progress is a yardstick measuring movement away from ignorance and injustice that is too much a part of past social leadership. It means that ignorance, misunderstandings, and abusive monarchies, dictatorships, and fiat- based rule based on an outdated past are flaws that society must correct. Clinging to the promotion of past values base on ignorance and adherence to such ideas now long past believability and social value is emblematic of conservative christianity desperate to maintain its privileges within society.

Progress means movement away from authoritarian diktats of a self-selecting self-promoting elite which are ensigns of archaic Christianity. Which is to say that conservative christianity of deacon Robinson is against ordinary citizen participation in deciding the direction taken by social/religious leadership of the governed's own choosing. Pedophilic predation on congregation members' children, sexual abuse of congregations adults, and the clerics' general proclivity for excessive self-privileging as evidenced in social standing and material benefits of being one of the elite 'servants' of God are not blessing of an Almighty but are hallmarks for unfettered religion that exists in a state of utter decadence.

A huge part of the social problem christian denominations now face is that those denominations guiding dogma are long long past their expiration dates. The principles at the moral core of modern society now exceed that of archaic dogma of outdated christian institutions.

RF's minefield secrets killed a Russian General?

We all know Russia is paranoid about making information known. At a strategic level and at a tactical level.

And by tactical I mean all the way down to its placement of defensive minefields near Kherson. Keeping secrets is part of operational security for all militaries.

But, keeping critical operational information from your own troops can end up getting them killed.

And that appears to be what's happened to Maj. Gen. Vladimir Zavadsky, 45, deputy commander of the 14th Army Corps, when he died in a mine blast in a "rear" area during a relocation of his unit that wasn't given information on positions of minefields laid earlier by Russian units.

Russia's Duma recieves proposal to push prisoners into having babies

The old empire has not only fallen apart and lost many of it's "republiks", its population is also shrinking.
This is a problem Putin has addressed previously with incentives for poor families and families with more than 2 children.

Now, a member of the Duma wants female prisoners to produce the needed babies. She also wants female parolees to have babies, and if they do not, she proposes the be forced back into prison to serve out the totality of their sentences.

I will say here that I have not been afan of Margaret Atwood's Handmaids Tale, mostly because for me it fails one of the standard tests of fantasy ans sci-fic... does the story help me suspend my disbelief and get deeper into the story.

I will now need to reconsider, because it seems members of the Duma have decided to model policy on Atwood's book.

Markwayne Mullin stunt... slippery slope to Senators resuming Dueling?

I am really sick of hearing national politicians, from lowly House reps to President characterize their service for their bases using various verb and adjectival forms of "fight" and "fighting".

The problem with this sort of rhetoric is that overtime it escalates to real fighting. I don't expect real violence will be long avoided. The nation arrived back at the potential of again seeing things like canings (like that of Charles Sumner in 1856) and brawls in senate chambers when the former Mixed Martial Arts performer challenged a witness at a senate hearing to a brawl. and THEN of all things, to go on to defend his behavior and call on his colleagues to join in it. Will the need to increase the spacing between senators' desks return to 2 sword lengths?

Sen. Markwayne Mullin is not ashamed of his challenge to fight a union boss during a Senate hearing Tuesday.

Instead, the Oklahoma Republican is defending his behavior and actively suggesting that threats of violence have a special place in American history that should be revived.

In an interview with CNN’s Dana Bash on Wednesday, Mullin, a former professional MMA fighter, said a return to physical violence could help cure what he derided as a culture of “keyboard warriors” who “go out there and run their mouth all the time, and then they don’t ever have to face the consequences.”
