Trump has allowed too many to get under his skin

When his attorney puts in a court filing a complaint that Trump is upset by a witness publicly labelling him as Don Von Shitsinpants ( ), you know he’s lost in the weeds and will never find his way out again. It’s just a matter of time now…

Take Heart friends and keep your chins up

Whenever things got dark in my life, my mom used to say, “Honey, when things get this way, take heart, and keep your chin up.” She passed away in 2017, and part of me is glad she didn’t have to see the worst of what is happening today. But her words stick with me to this day, and I use them when my kids face tough times.

I think many here could benefit from her words today. And I really do feel hopeful for this year. Just today, we got the news that Trump is going to be held accountable starting April 15th for crimes he committed during the 2016 election. It is the first crimes he was charged with, so it is somewhat poetic that it is the first to go. And the Judge in this case ain’t having any of Trump’s b.s. tactics.

If you follow Meidas Touch, you may note that this trial is pretty open-and-shut. The Judge has denied all the b.s. motions from the defense, including the slimy scheme to try to use the Advice of Counsel defense without paying the price that comes with it. Trump is left with no defense on a pretty heavy evidentiary based case that requires no state of mind and has all the facts and witnesses stacked against him. I do believe that Trump will be convicted before the convention and the RNC will have to figure out if they want to have a candidate who is convicted and who will likely be behind bars, or run a different candidate. Either way, they will most likely lose this election, barring unforeseen events.

And the disappointing news today, the reduced bond, still holds Trump accountable to the tune of 175 million. He still needs to pay up and only has 10 days to do it. It is an indicator that the appellate justices likely would have reduced the amount anyway. And even though Trump gets less bond to post, it ain’t over, and that’s money he can’t use for other purposes. I will say I am disappointed too, but only because I savored to see Trump embarrassed by the seizure of assets. But justice isn’t about that.

I won’t deny things are a bit darker today, but I will say this to you here: take heart, and keep your chins up. There is a long way to go, and we need each other to get there.

MSNBC is getting the appeal judgement wrong

They said the appeal only stays enforcement of the collection. The correspondent on Andrea Mitchell just said the stay does not lift the restriction for Trump to get a loan from a NY financial institution. However, the order clearly does lift this as well as most other provisions. The only provisions NOT stayed are the monitor and compliance director. They said this twice on the segment covering the issue.

NBC/MSNBC seems to be unhealthy on not just who they hire, but basic facts on current issues.

Judge Cannon's Law Clerks have been Quitting on her

https://davidlat.substack.com/p/judge-aileen-cannon-law-clerks-quit-on-her

In addition to the sheer importance of the role played by clerks in the judicial process, here are additional facts underscoring the significance of Judge Aileen Cannon having two (or more) clerks quit on her:

1. A federal district judge usually hires only two to three law clerks each year, so for two clerks to quit is quite notable. It’s nothing like a few associates quitting a 1,000-lawyer firm. And Judge Cannon, who took the bench in November 2020, has been a judge for less than four years—so she’s probably had a total of only eight to twelve clerks over her entire tenure.

2. As followers of the clerkship world well know, it’s highly unusual for a clerk to quit on a judge. Because a federal judicial clerkship typically lasts one year and is an extremely valuable credential, most clerks will “ride it out” instead of quitting, even if they’re miserable or have issues with their judge. The clerkship lasts only a year; the résumé value lasts for a career. For a law clerk to quit before the year is up often involves an extremely unpleasant situation in chambers.

3. As current and former judges and clerks can tell you, it’s highly disruptive to the work of a chambers when even one clerk quits, to say nothing of two. Judges in busy districts like the Southern District of Florida have heavy caseloads, but only two to three law clerks to help them handle all that work. To be short-staffed for even a brief period of time can generate a backlog very quickly.

Trump's plea with the court that he can't post bond is B.S.

He did the same thing with the Carroll decision. Then, magically, the day it was due the bond was posted. He’s playing the victim and playing the media.

This is the guy who just enlisted Manafort, convicted Russian agent, to his campaign. This is the guy who gave Kashobi over to the Saudis’s and his son-in-law got $2b from them. This is the guy that Russia, and maybe China, certainly N. Korea, wants to be the next President of the US.

Trump will, I have no doubt, cough up the money by the deadline next Monday. Meanwhile, the media will be talking about this until he does.
