Jacob Dean is the host, creator, owner, operator, engineer, producer, call screener, and coffee marker of Filter Free Radio. Jacob was born in Portland, Oregon in April 1988. He worked at various radio stations in the Portland area growing up including KPAM, KEX, KRSK, KMHC, KDOX, and KBPS. Jacob went to Benson Polytechnic High School and majored in Radio Broadcasting at the PPS operated AM 1450 KBPS, the second oldest radio station on air in Portland. Jacob studied broadcasting at KBPS and even had his own show live on-air at KBPS by his junior year. During his senior year, Jacob was part of the SkillsUSA National Radio (Audio) Production championship team, winning the SkillsUSA National competition in Radio Production in Kansas City, MO for the state of Oregon in 2006. Students were given three different radio station formats and target audiences and had to write, record, and produce three :60 spots in two hours. He graduated from Benson with a 3.8 GPA. View his KBPS alum profile at http://kbps.am Jacob majored in Radio Broadcasting at Mt. Hood Community College and graduated in 2008 with a 3.98 GPA. Jacob hosted \"The House Party\" the mid-day show on the college\'s radio station KMHD, and helped rebrand the station with a new look and sound. Jacob was one of the lead students behind \"The Quarry - We Break New Rock\" a new brand for the Mt. Hood C.C. station. The station is currently available on HD radio in Portland and online at http://www.kmhd2.org During the summer of 2009, Jacob was asked to come back to KBPS AM 1450 to host the live afternoon drive program 2-5p Monday-Friday on \"Summer Sound 2009.\" Jacob and co-host Abe were called \"The Most Entertaining Live Radio Show in Portland\" by a message board thread on the Portland Radio website www.pdxradio.com - Jacob was one of the first to announce the death of Michael Jackson live on air on KBPS to the city of Portland. Jacob worked at a few different stations in the Portland area before landing a big break as the associate producer for the number one progressive talk show in the country in April of 2009. Jacob produced for the Thom Hartmann Program as the in-studio producer and engineer, managed technically operation of the live daily broadcast, managed and produced podcasts and highlights for affiliates and listeners, and helped move the show to Washington, DC in October 2010 - building brand new broadcasting studios with help from the head engineers of NPR in DC. Jacob produced for Thom Hartmann while at the same time created Filter Free Radio in August of 2011. Jacob left the Thom Hartmann Program in June 2012 to move back home to Portland to be with and help family. Jacob is currently looking for work in radio, working in the service sector, and independently operating Filter Free Radio. Jacob loves music, dogs, movies, the outdoors, the Oregon Ducks, the Portland Trailblazers, news, civics, philosophy, learning new things, peace, and the truth. Jacob believes the secret to life is love, hope, faith, and being content. Jacob met Skeptical Scott at a Drinking Liberally event in Washington, DC shortly after moving there in winter 2010 and now considers him to be his brother from another mother. Scott is a born and raised DC native who still lives and works in the nation\'s capital.
