(35,038 posts)There are people who say they want to resist Trump but they try to shame anyone who wants to do anything and everything unorthodox or that something that actually involves action. I remember being called an authoritarian fascist by someone here for merely agreeing with another person who is also here on the idea of calling Republican parties hate groups.
It seems to me like there are too many people who don't actually want to do work politically, no real action, it's just a debate, a game to them. This should be common knowledge by now, especially to us on DU.
I can tell there are people who don't have someone in their lives who has a rare disease and how much of a life his challenge will be because we have "the greatest healthcare system in the world" and stays up worrying about how that "greatest" healthcare system will not always be on his side especially as he gets older, or includes Muslims or transgender people in the circle of people they love. Maybe it goes both ways... for many of the people who are leaving, as well as the "There goes healthcare for the poor... oh well" crowd.
Voting is nice, but it's not going to defeat the fascists by itself. I'm not going anywhere for several reasons, but I can understand what people do when they feel as though are out of options.
