14. I've thought about that quite a lot during these reports of voter suppression in this country

President Carter dedicated so much of his life to ensuring fair elections throughout the world - but now we're hearing about "dirty tricks," gerrymandering and voter suppression right here in this country. And the obvious fact that it's happened so blatantly right in his home state has to particularly rankle. I have his autobiography and there was egregious fraud - stolen votes - in his first run for public office. That's the kind of thing that regularly happened back then, but he took them on - and won. Every time I've heard about what's been going on, I've thought that we could really use the resources of The Carter Center right here at home.
