I have no respect for anyone who'd join this Republican congress, strong reason to suspect inadequate character at best. But an estate of $273K, probably mostly tied up in residences, is paltry compared to grossly inflated DC expenses. Congressmen who aren't well to do have a notoriously hard time making do on $174K, sleeping in their own offices instead of renting so they don't end up having to refinance their homes back home to make ends meet.

There's nothing strange or whiny about either of these people commenting that the immediate expenses on being elected are hard to meet or even beyond their current means. It's reality for many. And Ocasio's come in for mean coverage also, even suggestions that not having a ready stash of cash was itself proof she was incompetent and unready.

Gimme a break. Give them a break.
