(7,870 posts)or in several other ways illegally disenfranchised by Republican operatives at all levels of the voting process.
In some precincts, they were told to use provisional ballots which were subsequently challenged, uncounted due to bent election rules, or in some cases hidden or tossed out. Others were told that newly revised voting regulations summarily disqualified them even though many had voted in the same precincts quite correctly for decades. Some were told they were not now citizens due to the alleged lack of a street address, or that they did not have the exact same signature as one they had written years prior to the day.
Some had their votes deleted or altered by "faulty" voting equipment, or by "misinformed" election officials.
Some had their traditional voting sites removed or relocated too far away from the voting public (in one case moved inside a gated and guarded community, in another moved completely outside of town).
Which is to say nothing of direct intervention by Republican Governors, legislatures, senior election officials and the Republican President who threatened dire consequences for those who "didn't deserve to vote".
There were also those who were so effectively dis-informed and intimidated by Republican, Russian and Industrial propaganda that they were afraid to vote.
I consider that all of those above were not counted among voting participants.
These are but a few grains of salt to take with the meme that there are ever so many people who irresponsibly refused to participate. Yes, there are voters who chose not to exercise their franchise. I ask you to be a bit more careful when you lump them in with those who were systematically denied the right to choose.
