16. Electronic background checks are the norm these days in corporations.

I would hate to think they don't also do that in airline corporations.

Maybe military actions don't show up in background checks. If you've been court-martialed, you've been found, or plead, guilty to a crime, I think.

That's scary to think your nephew was let into a pilot program w/that background. Yikes!

Where I worked as a paralegal, another paralegal was fired after she was hired, but background check was run later. They found she had a misdemeanor of theft conviction (from an NSF check, which she later had to pay). She was immediately fired. Partly for the crime, and partly for lying on her application. (However, this WAS a law firm, so adherence to the law is sort of required.)
