1. This is what the Mississippi legislature wanted.

The district court and court of appeals can be expected to rule quickly finding the legislation. The proponents of the legislature wants the case at the Supreme Court as quickly as possible. They assume that SCOTUS will grant cert. and overturn Roe.

For what it's worth, I am not convinced SCOTUS will grant cert. My theory is that the anti-abortion element on the Court wants to continue to dismantle abortion rights in small bites. That being said, I have bets pending that SCOTUS overturns Roe before the beginning of the next presidential term - whoever is elected. I'm hoping I lose those bets.
