Before he retired he was one of the many engineers working on the Apollo Project. He took great pride in that.

I think he regarded his service as an Army Air Corp officer in World War II, and later his work as a defense contractor aerospace engineer, as jobs that had to be done. Any decent human being would oppose fascism or Stalinism.

Landing men on the moon represented actual human progress, a giant leap for mankind.
