(22,064 posts)It has been open for Early Voting in person since June 15
Many people chose to vote by mail
Postcards sent to every voter in KY advising local information; what to do and how to do it
Free Lyft, Free public transportation and free parking at the center.
Voting booths were set up 6 feet apart for social distancing, so there were plenty of voting machines. Apparantly things went smoothly until the end of the day when the last minute voters started heading for the location. Because of the giant traffic jam, the county judge issued an injunction to allow the location to stay open until 9 pm.
I checked in on the live blog off and on all day, and there were not lines until late in the day.
I run elections here in Fort Worth and I have had that huge rush at the end of the day. I closed the doors at 7 and at 7:01 folks pulled into the parking lot but I could not let them in. There were so many in line at 7 that it was nearly 9 pm before the last one voted.
I think they handled it very well.
