8. Teaching via Zoom is problematic

If the kids aren't supervised, they can just drift away from the screen!

For many disciplines, online teaching doesn't work well. For example, teaching violin online has numerous problems. The audio is compromised by two computers and the internet; how does the teacher judge the student's tone? It's visually difficult to assess the angle of the left wrist as it holds the neck of the instrument in 2 dimensions rather than in 3; how does the teacher explain the proper angles?

These and similar issues are found in online teaching of other instruments, dance and other performing arts, visual arts, athletics and other disciplines requiring physical activity.
