(26,044 posts)I have a friend from back in college, who went on to have a long military career, and now has a daughter serving as well. I knew he'd turned pretty conservative since joining the service, but, at least a few years ago, he was posting negative comments about Trump and his ties to Russia. Recently, he's gone full QAnon; I stopped him seeing my Facebook posts a few days ago, after he replied to something I had posted with the flat-out statement that Biden (who, I guess, he's sure has turned far left since his days as VP) would, if elected, not only confiscate everyone's guns but also "outlaw churches." When you're that far down the rabbit hole, I doubt any disrespect shown to fallen soldiers would even move the needle a bit; people like him see themselves in an existential battle for their own survival, and are convinced a Trump defeat would mean the end for them, so of course they're going to back him to the bitter end, no matter what he says or does.
