In reply to the discussion: CAN BERNIE SANDERS STILL PUT HIS STAMP ON BIDEN'S AGENDA? [View all]betsuni
(25,442 posts)Democrats to defend the basic tenants of democracy rather than focus on policy, why blame the Biden White House and say they need to "be pulled to the left"? That doesn't make sense. Myth of the bully pulpit, that if presidents really want something they can get it so they must not want something if it doesn't happen?
Says Sanders succeeded in moving "Joe and his campaign in a more progressive direction." How? A little different language, a little higher number on something? That's what it usually is with this "pulling/pushing Democrats to the left" idea. Why does anyone think Biden wouldn't have progressive policies without Bernie? Guess it's the new definition of "progressive" as anti-establishment with "corporate Dems" the establishment to be "taken on" because they aren't progressive. Well that doesn't work when Bernie is "helping to lead a party where he was once an outsider." He's leadership, establishment.
