(5,935 posts)I'm in Florida. In one of our redder counties, we have a high vaccination rate (older Repukes who actually followed the science), and yet in other counties with a higher proportion of Dems we have a lot of unvaccinated, younger people who either think that because they are young and healthy they are invulnerable or they believe the myths about reproduction being compromised by the vaccine. Every time I interact with the employees at my doctor's office or at stores, and even customer service reps I'm on the phone with, I ask them which vaccine they got. That seems to work a lot better than asking them if they got vaccinated. I have yet to meet anybody that's been taken aback by my question, and with one exception everyone who hasn't gotten the vaccine that I've spoken with fell into one of those two categories. The exception was a woman in her 40s who had put off getting the vaccine simply because she was confused about all the information with regard to the different vaccines that were available. She wanted to make sure she got the best one. We talked for a few minutes, and she thanked me for the information I gave her and said she'd be making an appointment that afternoon.
