People that are inclined to torture the new guy or girl are the same people that torture animals, abuse employees, sexually assault subordinates, and run the Republican party.

People tried to haze me in high school and college sports. I was lucky enough to be big enough to stop it, and, when I was the older guy, I stopped hazing in all its forms.

Seeing it up close, it was always the homophobic malcontent guy that tried to make younger guys feel terrified and weak. It really says so much about you, if you engage in this behavior.
